The Search for the Perfect Tires
After watching this episode, it’s safe to say that the search for the perfect tires was no easy task. The journey began with a trip down memory lane, where the host had previously ventured with his son Morris to acquire go kart tires. These tires were then modified by drilling into the center to align with European 3 bolt 58mm circle size diameter bolt patterns. However, to their dismay, these tires were not able to withstand the torque and bending that accompanied the host’s mega truck.
American Style Adapters
Realizing the need for stronger adapters, the host purchased American style go kart hubs that would serve as a wheel hub converter. These adapters would attach to the existing ones and provide the necessary reinforcement. The host managed to find adapters with a larger diameter of 6 inches, which was quite a challenging feat considering that most adapters come in 5-inch sizes.
The Advantages of Go Kart Rims
One of the most appealing features of the go kart rims chosen for the mega truck was the 2 and 1/2 inch offset on the inside. This offset would contribute to the old school look that the host sought to achieve for his truck. These rims also bore the hallmark of quality, proudly made in the USA instead of being manufactured in China and subsequently sent to the USA.
A Feast for the Eyes
As the tires and rims came together, it was truly a feast for the eyes. The host admired the cart rims and appreciated the fact that they all matched perfectly, exuding a sense of uniformity and beauty. However, it is important to note that these tires should not exceed the maximum tire pressure, a detail that the host would take into consideration. With these new tires, the host is confident that his mega truck will perform at its best, all while showcasing an appealing and nostalgic aesthetic.
The Pursuit of Perfection
The journey to finding the ideal tires for the mega truck was not without its challenges. It required meticulous research, scouring the internet for the right adapters and the specific 6-inch diameter. However, the host’s perseverance paid off, resulting in a set of tires that not only met his functional requirements but also embodied the desired visual appeal. The quest for perfection in every aspect of the mega truck continues, ensuring that each modification adds to its overall grandeur and performance.
Installing 15″ Deep Tread Blower Tires on the Mega Truck
No, no. There is a size difference here. One is a 13 and one is the maximum size I’m going here with a 15, honey. Do you push it in without you said I wasn’t allowed to make any jokes can’t give me this content go, get the coconut oil.
Preparation
Oh, my Applause, God, sorry, I can’t push I’m not allowed to say any jokes: okay got my station set up here, bowl with warm water, cloths, some dish detergent, and, of course, the rubber and always necessary.
Lubrication
Now number one. Everybody knows how to do this, but if you don’t great just going to go ahead and lube up the edges inside and out too much too much lube, uh huh, all right so being directional. I want to make sure I got two in the right two in the left start sliding them in now.
Challenges
Normally you can’t just go ahead and take rims like this and slide them through a 6in rim. You’d need a tire machine, but if you’re like me and have spaghetti arms problem solve that beauty, next same side, hey I’m a dad come with Dad strength.
Inflation
There we go perfect now we’re going to have to inflate them. Before I showed you guys exactly what I did so, I didn’t lead you astray. In case you have a primal RC raminator in case you’re trying to find a way to get bigger wheels for it cuz. I literally have been looking and figuring this out for years.
The Bead Seating Process
In this exciting RC ADVENTURES episode, we witness the installation of 15″ deep tread blower tires on the Mega Truck. The adventure begins with the careful placement of the bead on the inside rim of the stem. The process involves using a cloth and gentle pressure to ensure the bead is seated securely around the rim. Once that is accomplished, the ratchet strap is attached, preparing the tire for inflation.
Air Compressor Magic
Before proceeding to inflate the tire, our RC enthusiast introduces a separate tire into the equation. This old tire acts as support during the inflation process. With the air compressor at the ready, the valve stem is placed on top of the tire. However, instead of immediately adding air, the ratchet strap is strategically fastened to prevent any mishaps.
The Intense Inflation
With the setup in place, the inflation process commences. The ratchet strap is progressively tightened, gradually closing the gap on one side of the tire while the other side remains open. As the pressure builds inside the tire, the satisfying moment arrives when one side of the tire finally touches the bead. The other side, however, remains tantalizingly open.
Eager Anticipation
The anticipation grows as the enthusiast cleverly positions the ratchet strap at an angle to the tire. With nerves of steel, the trigger on the air compressor is pressed, gradually filling the tire with air. As the pressure increases, a moment of tension arises at the pinch point, where everyone expects a loud pop. However, much to everyone’s surprise, the tire silently and perfectly settles into place.
The Final Result
With the tires successfully mounted, the Mega Truck is now equipped with massive 15″ deep tread blower tires. The feast for the eyes is complete as the truck now possesses a rugged and aggressive appearance. Ready to conquer any terrain, the Mega Truck stands tall, thanks to the tire upgrade.
Installing the Wheel Hub Adapters
Now this is under pressure, so be careful, not bad, not Music, bad beautiful, okay, so here is, is one of the wheel hub adapters. I had to buy my own hardware for it, but not a big deal so flush on one side with the three bolt pattern and then Im just going to line it up and Im going to. Oh, I have a notification, make sure those are done like that. Beautiful and then Ill just start tightening them up one two 3, one: two 3 1, two three and making sure that I cinch it down properly evenly all the way around and there you have the three bolt pattern with the American adapter on it: Applause wow there You go forgive the mess back here.
The Mega Truck’s Transformation
Ive been working on the floors Mo come see. The truck dude lets go out the front door, its up the front door front doors Im coming holy. What do you think? Oh my gosh? Oh co. What do you think man wow those tires fit it amazing. Those tires fit amazing, yeah like it, it just matches well its the old school Chevy look dude the Chrome Rams. It was either that or white. But three bolt pattern got the LEDs going Perfect. Dude nice chunky tires all the way around chunk chunk chunk chunk.
Testing the Mega Truck
I havent tested it yet. Shall we oh yep? I would love that. Okay, so heres my radio, big nsdc, RS 2500 servos, dual steering servos, which are the motors that do the turning wow, dude and theyre perfectly.
Adjusting the Rear Steer
Turning the truck nice and straight, something unexpected happened. The rear steer seemed to have a mind of its own, causing the truck to wobble. It was clear that some adjustments needed to be made to ensure smooth operation.
Trueing Up the Rear Steer
To address the wobbling issue, the rear steer needed to be trued up. This meant making some adjustments to the back of the truck. It was an interesting process, as the rear steer played a significant role in the truck’s performance.
Examining the Back Tires
Upon closer inspection, it was evident that the back tires needed a significant adjustment. They were pointed in the wrong direction, towards the operator instead of outward. It was essential to move them out to ensure proper functioning.
Adjusting the Tires
Fortunately, the tires were adjustable, so it was just a matter of getting in there and making the necessary adjustments. It was a task that required some effort, but it was well worth it to ensure optimal performance.
Comparing the New Tires
Upgrading the tires on the mega truck was a dream come true. The original tires provided by Primal RC were single ply and not air-filled. They had a hex on the inside for the drive and a single nut on the outside of the plastic rims. These tires expanded significantly when spinning, making it challenging to control the truck’s movements.
Improving Performance
By putting 15″ deep tread blower tires on the mega truck, significant improvements were made in terms of performance. The new tires were adjustable, allowing for better control and maneuverability. Gone were the days of struggling with tires that were too small; now, the truck was ready to conquer any terrain.
A Feast for the Eyes
The transformation of the mega truck was truly astounding. The new tires not only enhanced performance but also added to the visual appeal of the truck. The deep tread and larger size gave the truck a more aggressive and powerful look, making it a feast for the eyes.
In conclusion, the adjustments made to the mega truck’s rear steer and tires were essential for optimizing its performance. With the new 15″ deep tread blower tires, the truck was ready to take on any challenge and provide an exhilarating RC adventure.
The Absorption of the Deep Tread Blower Tires
Upon the installation of these mammoth 15″ deep tread blower tires onto my Mega Truck, I immediately noticed their exceptional absorption capabilities. Going the extra mile to ensure maximum performance, I also added dual suspension all around. This meant eight shocks were now in place to handle any terrain that lay ahead.
A Departure from the Norm
Gone are the days of settling for a regular-sized trail truck. Not me, I’ve always had bigger dreams. Finally, my aspirations have come to fruition as I proudly unveil this Chevy-bodied behemoth. This is no ordinary truck, it is the ultimate trail conqueror, pushing boundaries and leaving no obstacle untouched.
An Electric Rear Steer Wonder
Equipped with electric rear steer capabilities, this Mega Truck now boasts an impressive array of features. The most eye-catching, of course, are the massive tires specifically designed to handle any challenge that comes its way. With plenty of torque at its disposal, this truck is ready to take on anything.
The Grip of a Trail Killer
As I set out on the asphalt, I quickly noticed the immense grip that these tires possess. Even though the truck has an open differential, meaning power is not evenly distributed between the wheels, the traction provided by the deep tread blower tires is overwhelming. The rear tires grip the surface with such force that the rear steer function struggles to keep up.
An Unleashed Beast
With each passing moment, the confidence in this trail destroyer grows. The power and grip combine to create a magnificent force, capable of setting any trail on fire. The sheer speed and force generated by this truck are truly awe-inspiring.
The Unpredictability of the Rubber
Amidst the excitement, I noticed a peculiar phenomenon. The rubber of the tires seemed to correct itself under the immense strain placed upon it. This correction led to unpredictable movements and adjustments, adding an element of surprise to the already exhilarating experience. At times, it almost felt as though the truck had a mind of its own.
Danger Lurking
While the thrill of the Mega Truck is undeniable, one cannot overlook the potential dangers it presents. The amount of strain the servos endure to maneuver these massive rubber tires on the unforgiving asphalt is immense. One wrong move, one misplaced control signal, and disaster could ensue.
As I continue to explore the capabilities of this Mega Truck, I am constantly reminded of its raw power. The combination of the 15″ deep tread blower tires, dual suspension, and electric rear steer creates a force to be reckoned with. It is an adventure that is exciting, enthralling, and at times, unnerving.
