Unboxing Experience

So here I am, surrounded by everything that screams excitement – the Ford Raptor R 4X4 RC Car by Traxxas ready to be unboxed. This is the first step, where I carefully unpack everything, examine each component, and assess the need for any upgrades. The anticipation is palpable as I prepare to dive into this unboxing experience.

Initial Impressions

The Raptor R is a truck that has been on my wishlist for a long time, but elusive to obtain until now. Despite some concerns about its drivetrain, the allure of the Ford Raptor is undeniable. Essentially an extended version of the Slash, it boasts a longer wheelbase of 15.1 inches compared to the Slash 4×4’s 12.8 inches, promising greater stability.

Pro Scale Features

One of the standout features of the Raptor R is its Pro Scale design, offering enhanced detailing that sets it apart. From the intricately designed front grille to the hood vents, side mirrors, and even LED lights, every element exudes authenticity. The inclusion of a tailgate with a rear bumper and additional LED lights further adds to the overall appeal of this RC car.

Differences from Slash 4×4

For those already familiar with the Slash 4×4, the Raptor R presents noticeable differences that set it apart. The unique Raptor R design and longer wheelbase are the key distinguishing factors that give this RC car its own identity. However, for newcomers to the Slash series, the Raptor R still offers a thrilling experience that is worth considering.

Verdict: Is It Worth It?

As I navigate through the unboxing and initial review of the Ford Raptor R 4X4 RC Car by Traxxas, the question arises – is it worth the investment? With its striking design, enhanced detailing, and extended wheelbase, the Raptor R certainly holds its own among the RC car enthusiasts. It may not be without its limitations, but the overall experience it promises makes it a worthy addition to any collection.

Powerful Components

Unless you have a significant amount of money, the Ford Raptor R 4X4 RC Car by Traxxas offers an impressive array of powerful components. It boasts the exact same power system as the 4×4 VXL, including the Venan 3500 brushless motor and Venan VXL 3S ESC with speed control. Additionally, it comes equipped with the 2075 steering servo and TSM radio, providing a similar performance level to its counterparts.

Heavy Duty Features

The Ford Raptor R also includes heavy-duty features such as the Extreme HD Outer Drive Line and suspension components borrowed from the max series. This means you get stronger components like steel drive shafts, wheel hexes, Caster blocks, steering blocks, hub carriers, shock towers, suspension arms, and oversized steel-sealed ball bearings. These robust features are designed to enhance the durability and performance of the RC car.

Value for Money

Traxxas seems to have adopted a different approach by focusing on providing a comprehensive package with the Ford Raptor R. While some may question the need for additional purchases like batteries, the inclusion of heavy-duty components and powerful electronics make the RC car a worthy investment for enthusiasts looking for a reliable and performance-driven model. The value for money lies in the quality of the components and the overall experience of using the Ford Raptor R 4X4 RC Car.

Ford Raptor R 4X4 RC Car By Traxxas Unboxing

There was a day when those were almost always included. Now they were nikad, they werent lipo, but they gave you something thats long gone now. All these HD upgrades uh for the most part again should have been made that way in the first place, but if they did that, then theyd have to charge 800 for it and then no one would buy it uh. So you have obviously the higher detail on the tires and stuff like that.

First Impressions and Features

If youre into scale, you know who buys this truck right youre into scale. My German Shepherds are mad that theyre not allowed in here right now, but they are well a handful to say the least, if youre into scale – and you dont already have a raptor for or a Slash 4×4, then I would say that this is worth considering. It really does pull the 60 MPH that it that it claims via the speed pinion that is included its not one of those things where oh, it claims to go 100 Mil hour and it doesnt. Really it really does uh Ive seen lots of speed runs done by it.

Is It Worth It?

So, of course you have the TSM now Im old school. I dont want any gyro telling me how to drive and taking over, but it is good for beginners, one of the biggest bummers when youre when you just get into RC. Is you know, like theres innumerable times where I basically took the RC out of the box? Immediately broke something that was not included to fix, so obviously that is a huge bummer.

Unboxing Experience

Inside the box, you will find various shock adjustment tools and a mini toolkit with an allen wrench for maintenance. There is also a pinion gear included along with some extra decals. However, many users may not bother to open these accessories.

TXAS App Usage

Some users may neglect to utilize the TXAS app, which offers valuable insights into the gyro and TSM functions. TSM provides software-assisted driving, akin to the stabilizing gyros found in drones or RC motorcycles. While some may prefer to master manual driving, others appreciate the assistance that technology provides to prevent mishaps.

Design and Features

The Ford Raptor R 4X4 RC car by Traxxas boasts a longer wheelbase than typical Short Course Trucks, minimizing kiting during jumps. Additionally, its realistic appearance appeals to fans of the Raptor model, with detailed LED lights adding to the overall scale aesthetics. The bumper and trailer hitch design further enhance the truck’s authenticity for hobbyists seeking customizable upgrades.

Performance

When it comes to performance, the Ford Raptor R 4X4 RC Car truly shines. Powered by the same powertrain as the Slash, this car can reach speeds of up to 60 miles per hour. The heavy-duty upgrades ensure that the car can handle whatever you throw at it, whether it’s off-roading or high-speed racing. The car handles well on various surfaces, from gravel to pavement.

Is It Worth It?

The big question remains: is the Ford Raptor R 4×4 RC Car by Traxxas worth the investment? The answer ultimately depends on what you’re looking for in an RC car. If you’re seeking a high-performance, durable model with impressive speed and agility, then this car is certainly worth it. However, if you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option or prefer a different style of RC car, then this model may not be the best fit for you. Overall, the Ford Raptor R 4×4 RC Car offers a thrilling and immersive RC experience for those who appreciate quality and performance.

The Body and Suspension

The Ford Raptor R 4X4 RC car by Traxxas comes with a clipless body mount and an extreme heavy-duty kit installed. The body is impressive, and the shocks are oil-filled Ultra shocks, providing a smooth ride. The suspension arms are heavy-duty, ensuring durability during rough rides.

Performance and Upgrades

The car is equipped with Traxxas Stability Management (TSM), making it suitable for new drivers. However, experienced drivers may find the steering servo slightly underpowered, as it is the common 2075 servo used in many Traxxas models. Upgrades may be necessary for those seeking peak performance.

Comparison with the Slash

The Ford Raptor R 4X4 RC car is essentially a longer wheelbase version of the popular Slash model. While it offers some upgrades and a different body design, it may not provide a significantly different experience for owners of the Slash. Unless you are a devoted collector or enthusiast, it may be challenging to justify adding this model to your collection.

Performance on Track

Driving the Ford Raptor R 4X4 RC Car is a different experience altogether. The handling is precise, and the car responds well to controls, making it a joy to maneuver around obstacles. The performance on the short course track is impressive, with the car showing off its capabilities in terms of speed and agility.

Scale and Design

One of the standout features of the Ford Raptor R 4X4 RC Car is its scale and design. The attention to detail is impeccable, with headlights and rear lights adding a realistic touch to the overall aesthetic. The higher-end bumper lights further enhance the visual appeal, making the car look like a miniature version of the actual Ford Raptor.

Is It Worth It?

Now comes the crucial question – is the Ford Raptor R 4X4 RC Car by Traxxas worth the investment? While the car definitely delivers on performance and design, it ultimately depends on your preferences and priorities. If you value quality, durability, and realistic scale details, then this car is definitely worth considering. However, if you are on a budget, there are cheaper options available in the market that may be more suitable for your needs. Ultimately, the decision to purchase the Ford Raptor R 4X4 RC Car will depend on what you prioritize in an RC car and how much you are willing to invest in your hobby.

Steering Servo Upgrade

It seems like the Ford Raptor R 4X4 RC Car could benefit from a better steering servo, perhaps one that is a little stronger like a Spectrum steering servo. The option of a waterproof steering servo could also be a good investment for improving performance.

Upgraded Tires

Considering the type of terrain you plan to drive the RC car on, it might be wise to think about upgrading the tires. While the stock tires look scale and mimic the real truck, if you plan on navigating through dirt and rocks, you may want tires that offer more traction and durability.

Scale Look and Feel

As a Raptor owner yourself, you can appreciate the attention to detail Traxxas has put into making the Ford Raptor R 4X4 RC Car look like the real truck. The scale appearance of the RC car adds to the overall immersive experience of driving it.

Convenient Design Features

One notable improvement that stands out is how easy it is to put the body on the RC car. Gone are the days of struggling with body pins and risking losing them in the process. The hassle-free design makes it a breeze to get the RC car ready for action.

The Unboxing

If you like scale, it’s cool. Immediate upgrades other than the steering servo, I wouldn’t really do a lot again other than the tires. Steering servo, and this truck is basically ready to rock. At least in my opinion, and the steering servo is fine, it’s just always. I always felt like a little underpowered, especially now when you’ve got a longer wheelbase on the truck.

First Impressions

I would have liked to see that, but overall, I think the Raptor R 4X4 RC Car by Traxxas is cool. Is it a shelf queen? Well, we’ll find out. Those do exist in the RC world. I know it’s crazy to think about people buying a $700 RC and just hardly ever running it and just tweaking on it and upgrading a lot. Those exist. I own some. We’ll find out if it’s a shelf queen or not.

Conclusion

In conclusion, whether the Ford Raptor R 4X4 RC car by Traxxas is worth it depends on your individual preferences and needs. While it offers quality components and a unique body design, it may not provide a revolutionary experience for those familiar with the Slash model. Consider your driving style and requirements before making a decision to purchase this model.

Before hitting the road with the Ford Raptor R 4X4 RC Car, it’s clear that there are some potential upgrades to consider for optimal performance.
