Choosing the Right Chassis

Different Models in the Collection

I know about the mo3 cuz thats, how we started, but beyond that I havent got a clue: M mo6 mo5, I dont know anything about them. I dont like them in my car collection. I have an mo3, an mo5, an mo6, an seven yeah and nb1, which is like their new one, but you cant run the seven or the nb1.

Inspecting the New Car

Well they Ive just built them to sort of um whats. The word box, spec as it were, yeah and theyre, not theyre, not competitive cars, so Ive got to do a bit of work, oil field, shocks and few little changes. Um Mr Green sent me an5, Mr Green, Mr Green and that5 is the one that going to use it. But when I took it apart, there was sand in the gear box and all the gears had like worn away theres nothing worse than sand around your gearbox.

Discovering a Vintage RC Car

When I first laid my eyes on the vintage RC car that my mate Steve offered me, I couldn’t contain my excitement. The nostalgia of old school RC cars flooded my mind, sparking a sense of anticipation.

Assessing the Condition

As I unboxed the RC car, I noticed that the bearings were worn out and made uncomfortable noises. I knew that I had to take immediate action to restore this vintage gem to its former glory.

Restoring the RC Car

I visited RCbearings.co.uk to purchase new bearings and other necessary components to rebuild the gearbox. It was a meticulous process, but I was determined to make the RC car look and perform like new.

Embracing the Old School Charm

As I worked on refurbishing the vintage RC car, I couldn’t help but appreciate the charm of old school cars. There’s something special about the simplicity and ruggedness of these vehicles that modern RC cars just can’t replicate.

Connecting with RC Enthusiasts

My interactions with RC Steve, a legendary figure in the RC community, reminded me of the camaraderie shared among enthusiasts. His guidance and assistance have been invaluable in my journey to revive this vintage RC car.

Nostalgic Hit

I’ve just had a nostalgic hit. Ah help me. Ah, that’s better I’m, all right now. Now for those of you that don’t know, that right there is a m Dave Cobra. Now that was released after the mve meteor, and actually he used to do all right in kind of the Nationals. I mean they had to do a lot to it. I forget who used to run this now, but someone will probably put it in the comments, but Amar Dave Cobra it’s even got the old-fashioned wiper board on there and these things used to get super hot, big, big resistors on there and stuff yeah. I remember those so the servos just been glued down by the things but yeah they used to do that back in the day, that’s right, yeah GL – that is pretty nice bit of vintage kit. So that is the m cob. You said he had three things for you, so oh yeah, so that one and he a bit ta isn’t it yeah, look hang on a minute.

Initial Thoughts

What does he want us to do with these? Then we he? He follows the channel and obviously we go into the Revival this year and he said it would be nice to see these cars ah yeah, but were already in at the Revival. We are so Im not sure whether we we can get this one in were racing. Four wheel drive well, I think theyre fully booked, but its not just cuz theres, some other sort of um retro events and whatnot.

Exploring the Vintage RC Car

What I whats the word of them. After what events, iconic yeah, iconic sort of old school events and that uh – and it would be really good to to get that up and running for RC, Steve cuz – I think he would enjoy that thing going around the track running wouldnt he yeah yeah, now go On yeah, I bet you, though theres people around who will supply some hopups for it, but I dont want to hop it up. I think it would be really nice just to do it kit you know, maybe is it got the speed controller in there as well?

Examining the Components

Like the old school speed controller Im, not sure if it was a Race Kit, it would yeah it probably wouldnt. Would it no thats true um, which probably wouldnt want to put that in there anyway, look at those bearings still isnt, they still looking good. That is wow, something else that is well there you go. Finally, finally, we got a m Dave on the channel, albeit a very, very old one, but still in it’s box.

The Discovery

I bet thats worth a few quid now as well, but were going to build it. Should we build it yeah right, we should build it and we should you say we Ill build. It then youll build it good. One nicely well volunteered speaking of uh vintage stuff on um, I got hold of something very, very special, very, very de.

A Challenging Task

You got hold of something yeah you got to stop getting hold of it mate. I told you you are going to go blind, I was. I was tinkering with it the other day a. What have. I told you about that and I got stuck oh no. Not again did you have to go hospital again. It was really hard.

Seeking Assistance

I couldnt do it so what happened? Well, the thing is, things were getting in the way and I couldnt I just couldnt fit it in and Ive been there. How did you deal with it? Then? What did you have to do? I just chucked it in a box, you put it in a box shoved it in the box and I was like Ive had enough. So what I need. I need your help. I need you to take it out of the box for me.

A New Challenge

I can do that and fix it up. Okay, and that is in fact my uh. My hot shot is getting supercharged. Yes, you got sent some interesting parts for your sh didnt. You did, but I am very much a um follow the instructions kind of a guy and there werent any instructions, and I was trying to kind of just do it and I dont have the years of experience of building RC cars that youve got and I spoke To the B he goes, oh, you just need to dremel that little bit out well, I dont have a Dremel and thats why I got stuck so Im going to give you the Cobra and the Cobra and the Cobra all right, but Im also going to Chuck In a supercharged hot shot in the Box, this is going to keep me very busy.

Unboxing Experience

It is but okay, yeah Ill. Do it then so there’s lots, lots, lots for me to be getting. We got some much going on. I mean we’ve got the MKGP around the corner. Uh, we got the iconic cup around the corner we booked in for the Revival, booked in for the we’re going to go and visit Mark Styles at the Wickam Club, Wickam club, and do some 1/12th racing. We’re going to go to Crystal Palace and we’re going to race some 1/10th scale cars because we’ve got to email them back with a date. Also, we’ve been invited to. Is it NE Raceway to do the one Offroad, yeah. Oh man, and I want to compete in the Nationals this year, going back to the Nationals?

Surprise Unboxing

Hang on minute ain’t you got to be good to, no offense, but ain’t. You got to be like good to compete on the national scene, it’s fair to say. I do not compete. You can’t just book in though, right? You have to be. If you, if we’re talking buggies, you have to qualify for the Nationals I’m, not talking buggies I’m, talking, mtcs and um. I went to the MTC Clubman a couple years ago. In fact, we both did. Last year I run at the MK MTC Nationals and I’m looking to go back again this year. However, I might have a new car, another one. Can’t say: where are you going to put all these can’t say anything about it just yet you’re thinking of getting a new one.
