SUPER EXPENSIVE RC CAR LESSON

SUPER EXPENSIVE RC CAR LESSON

The Unexpected Rabbit Hole

As the YouTuber set out to film a simple 30-second intro for his RC car vlog, little did he know that it would lead him down a massive rabbit hole that would consume three days and $500 of his budget. What started as a quick video turned into a whirlwind of unexpected challenges and expenses that left him reeling.

A Shocking Discovery

After releasing a short video showcasing the top speed of his XRT RC car, the YouTuber was surprised to find that the vehicle was only hitting 41 mph, well below the expected 50 mph for stock models. Upon further investigation, he discovered that the issue may lie with the old batteries he was using, specifically a weak cell that was impacting performance.

The Cost of Excellence

In a bid to resolve the issue and improve the speed of his RC car, the YouTuber invested in two brand new 6700 batteries to replace the faulty ones. While seemingly a small component, the impact of the weak cell on the overall performance of the vehicle was significant, highlighting the importance of quality components in achieving peak performance.

Lessons Learned

Through this unexpected and expensive ordeal, the YouTuber learned valuable lessons about the intricacies of RC car maintenance and the importance of investing in high-quality equipment. What started as a simple video shoot turned into a costly but enlightening experience that underscored the dedication and attention to detail required in the world of RC car racing.

Unraveling the Mystery

So this is reading 51. This battery is lets, read the other one yeah, the other one is reading 72. So I think that battery is just weak. I hope that’s, why but that’s crazy that something that small could mean 8 m hour, but we’ll find out here in a second.

Testing the New Batteries

All right guys, we got the new batteries in there. We found a new school we’ll see how this works out for us and the ver. Ver is 43, so I guess it’s not my uh, not my batteries. My xrt is just slower than anybody else’s, guys, I’m so confused.

Exploring Different Options

I think I’m going to put another gnss analyzer on it. I’m going to try another one of those and then I’m also going to run it on the Traxxas app. 43 that’s 5 m hour, that’s a significant difference: that’s dang near 10 performance decrease.

Problem-Solving in the RC World

So this is RC. You got to just try things figure things out. First things. First, let me make sure all my software is up to date. To do that, you got to hook it up on the Traxxas link app and then it will check to see if you have any updates pending.

Multiple Tests, Multiple Solutions

Aha, it says I don’t necessarily think that’s the problem, but we got to rule everything out. Holy crap double updates. Let doing an update now, but we’re also putting this thing on there. So this is another gnss. This is a speed meter, it’s not an analyzer, so I’m going to run the gnss analyzer, the speed meter and I’m going to run it on the Traxxas app the top be on the Traxxas app we’re going to figure out what’s going on.

Initial Observations

It should be over 45 M hour. This is the first time seeing this thing, though, see ooh very cool, a a link in the description below its actually cheaper than the gnss analyzer. Also, all right, we have the gnss going.

Speed Testing

We have the Traxxas app going and we have that little guy, the little gnss on the back here were going to find out for sure what the speed is, which ones faulty its bothering me guys. Its bothering Applause me all right. I mean that looks like 40. It looks like 43, it doesnt look like 46.

All right, guys, Im convinced my xrt is messed up. Its reading 62 here lets see what this says 43 there, which is exactly what I thought it would say. This is probably going to say, 42, and this says 42 there, either my gears arent stock. I mean I had one of the these are one of the. This was one of the first ones, so maybe my gears arent in stock.

Troubleshooting

Im going to have to go through the thing but somethings wrong with it, because that’s not right either at all. So this xrts driving me crazy guys. I got to know whats wrong with it or I got to know if theres something wrong with it were going pretty deep. Im putting a new brushless system in it, so its going to be a brand new stock, brushless system, a Traxxas ads brushless system, and since We have to take the receiver box top off and take the ESC out were going to go ahead and put were going to go ahead and put this guy on.

Upgrading to the 600 Series Servo

This is the new 600 series Servo for the XC cars, so it’ll be like a new car. Literally I’ll have a new Servo new electronics, almost new everything, not that this has anything to do with speed, but it looks really cool. I mean look at Music it.

Keeping the Mustang in the Garage

One question I get. A lot is what’s up with my Mustang that sits in the garage there’s, nothing up with it. It literally just sits in the garage I don’t drive very often, but people always ask. Why is the hood up and stuff like that? It it’s on a trickle charge, but it runs perfectly fine. It’s 2015 I’ve got about 10000 Mi on it. I still never drive it.

Handling the RC Car Components

Quick update, everything’s coming out nice and clean. So one thing to remember see these little pins here, there’s these little pins. You can easily accidentally lose those those um make sure you put those where they belong. They actually have them labeled here stock is what I’m going to be running um. The es is already out there’s the new brushless system. We just got to take this thing out. Other than that everything’s great.

Working on the Tailgate

If you’re wondering why I’m working on the tailgate of my truck it’s because this truck is so big, it won’t fit on my workbench, so it’s just a little easier out here and it’s a beautiful night. Oh, I guess you guys can’t see anything, but it’s beautiful. We’re almost done before I seal it up.

The Frustration of Faulty Equipment

Look at that beautiful Servo in there. Oh, it looks so freaking good, oh man, its the little things guys its the little things all right, guys, this day, three of trying to figure out whats wrong with my xrt. I got all the stuff installed, God. I hope this is it. I hope this is it new Servo, not that that matters new motor, new ESC, new batteries Ill be happy if it goes over 45.

Disappointment in Performance

If this doesnt fix it Im Im going to give up guys, just bothering the crap out of Applause me all right and the verdict is Im done thats it thats as fast as it goes 43 here thats exactly what read before 42. Exactly the same Im done guys, I give up Godly that sucks. I need a favor guys if you have a gnss analyzer, anything to track speed and a stock xrt with two 6700 Traxis batteries.

Seeking Confirmation

Can you do a speedrun and see if Im chasing my tail? Maybe everyones wrong: maybe that is the top speed and I had the right top speed and everybody else was lying well. I hope you like the video guys if you did Smash the like button subscribe to my channel Channel turn on notification Bell cant. Do it guys? I cant give up on yall, I feel like. I owe it to yall to find an answer.

The Importance of Proper Equipment

Non belted tires. Belted tires non belted tires heres, another nice snow. These are the original tires that came on my xrt.

The Revelation

I kind of bent them up and broke them. You can see its kind of bent inside these are the original. These are the new ones that arent belted look. How many spokes are on the inside of the new one they revised it. So the new stock tires are revised, were learning a lot from this?

Unforeseen Consequences

Not so great Applause experience, oh, it feels way faster Applause, all right and the verdict is we did it. 48, oh, my God, thats. So frustrating lets see what the uh 47 on that one nice thats freaking, crazy guys. I I would have never thought that belted tires made, that much of a difference were talking. A 10 decrease in speed.

The Surprising Discovery

Belted tires 43 non bed tires 48 5 mph difference over 10 thats insane. Now that we proved it out, I mean it does kind of make sense. I mean those non b, builted tires, they expand pretty big, maybe get 2 or 3 Ines more of diameter.

The Costly Experiment

It definitely changes the roll out significantly whenever the tire gets that much bigger. But my goodness guys serious seriously 3 days about 500 worth of stuff put on that car to test it, and it was the tires that means that the Traxxas xrt ultimate is actually slower than the stock xrt, because the stock xrt has non b builted tires. They expand, they get bigger and yeah. You go 5 m hour, faster, thats, insane crazy.
