Team Corally Kagama Overview
At this point, Ive been driving it, breaking it, fixing it, tuning it – all that good stuff, and it’s time for the full review. So, this is a vehicle that comes in two different versions: a 619 full-on RTR like this with all the team car electronics, you will have to supply your own battery and charger, but other than that, it comes with everything. There is also a 419 roller version, where you would have to supply your own electronics. Depending on where you have stuff already that you want to use or you just want something that you can compete out of the box, this is what you’re going to choose between.
Rating System
The way the review works is we give it a rating from one to five stars. It is on a curve, so three stars would be average within this class. Five stars would be the best in class, and one star would be the worst in class. It’s a little bit different than some other channels out there. I don’t give it a rating like 8 out of 10. I don’t know what 8 out of 10 means. The way it works here is that three stars are average. If you’re above what you can typically buy in the 1:6 scale trucks, you get an above three-star rating. If you’re below, you obviously get a below three-star rating.
Competitors
Competitors of the Team Corally Kagama are going to be things like the Traxxas Sledge, the Arrma Kraton 6S and 6S EXP, and maybe things like the Team Associated Rival MT8. These are the benchmarks against which the Kagama is evaluated.
Electronics
The Team Corally Kagama comes equipped with top-notch electronics, featuring the Kon 825 ESC and motor combination with a blazing 2050 KV. This setup is one of the fastest packages available on any ready-to-run (RTR) vehicle. While the servo and radio are decently functional, with a basic 7225 Metal Gear servo and a standard CT2 R radio, it’s the ESC Electronics package that truly shines, earning a five-star rating in this category.
Chassis and Upgrades
The Kagama boasts a sturdy aluminum flat pan chassis with three differentials (front, center, and rear), including a high-quality aluminum center differential. Additionally, it features spring steel outdrives, aluminum capped front suspension arm mounts on pivot balls, and aluminum front and rear shock towers. The all-aluminum shocks and front and rear sway bars enhance the overall durability and performance of the truggy, catering more towards bashing rather than racing.
Performance
One of the standout features of the Team Corally Kagama is its exceptional power delivery. The monster truck is not just slightly faster but significantly faster than other power systems on the market. The combination of the potent electronics package and the robust chassis design ensures that the Kagama excels in performance, making it a top contender in the 1/8 truggy category.
Design
I think, with more adjustments a little bit more tuneability, but the GMA they went full on beast mode Center. The tower uh braces kind of a hybrid style and then the fully like triple back differential mounts to the chassis. Basically, the Hing pin braces mount to the diffs diffs mount to the chassis chassis mounts to the Hing pin bra, so its all kind of triple reinforced. So a really nice design, uh the only things I kind of dont, like probably a little bit more hard to work on than your standard. Uh eight scale truy out there with all that bracing uh a little more screws to get to like the center differential. Its basically like 14 screws, uh things uh, you know just a little bit more work, I think, to uh get at um battery tray again, I think its probably the other area Id say could use some improvement, not a whole ton of reinforcement uh in the front To protect your battery packs, I have broken those in the past and there are only two battery stats which uh definitely uh. If you you lose one uh, then your battery gets ejected so anyways uh in the design category. I think its pretty good, above average for sure Im going to give it four stars in the design category.
Performance
The Gama is fast handles well really good traction from the tires here. Um spins a lot in the air for sure jumps high.
Suspension and Handling
As you can see, suspension definitely built more for bashing rather than flat ground, but works pretty well I’d say. Obviously, backflips in the air can do double backflips, so yeah, great handling, tons of traction, a little bit out of control because of how much power it has. It does double backflips, it’s an amazing performing truck. I think it is best in class. It is the fastest with excellent traction. Probably the best tires, not so much for speedrun type stuff, but if you want to run off-road, Kagama is probably best in class. I’m going to give it five stars in the performance category.
Durability and Concerns
I think the one concern I have durability-wise is that the rear wing pretty much just broke on the first pack. I don’t even think I landed on the wing, it just kind of was flexing too much and cracked. I’m running an Outcast Wing other than that I really haven’t broken anything. I think the servo definitely lacks a bit in the reliability category. So this one is holding up, but I’ve had other servos in the past. But other than that, I would say it’s a pretty stout machine. My durability rating is probably a little different than most people. I judge it based on jumping and landing it, so if you land it upside down on one corner or on the wing, yeah, it’s probably going to break. But I’m judging it more by if you can actually drive and land.
Durability and Support
Despite initial concerns, the Team Corally Kagama has proven to be quite sturdy. The only issue encountered so far was with the wing, which is easily replaceable. Parts availability might be a bit of a challenge, especially in the US, as Team Corally is still a smaller brand in this region. However, they do a good job of shipping parts from Belgium, making it a viable option for enthusiasts.
Design and Maintenance
The Team Corally Kagama’s design leans more towards durability and bashing rather than ease of maintenance. The extra bracing adds to its sturdiness but might make it a bit more challenging to work on for those who prefer a more straightforward truggy monster truck.
Performance and Overall Verdict
In terms of performance, the Team Corally Kagama holds its own, delivering a thrilling experience for those who enjoy a bit of off-road action. While it may not be as well-known as other brands in the US, it certainly has potential to impress. With a bit of patience and willingness to order parts internationally, the Kagama could prove to be a solid choice for truggy enthusiasts looking for a durable and exciting monster truck experience.
Ease of Maintenance
When it comes to ease of maintenance, the Kagama falls a bit short. Parts are not as readily available as some other brands, which may make repairs a bit more challenging. I would rate it below average in this category, giving it only two stars.
Pricing and Value
The Kagama is priced at $619 for the ready-to-run version in the US, or $419 for the roller at the time of this review. While it may not be the cheapest option on the market, the truck comes with high-quality components such as spring steel outdrives, aluminum shocks, and front and rear sway bars. Despite the slightly higher price tag, I believe the Kagama offers good value for the money, earning a four-star rating in this category.
Performance and Durability
When it comes to performance and durability, the Kagama shines. It offers best-in-class performance with its top-of-the-line electronics and design. The truck is built to last, with features such as aluminum center differentials and inserts on the arms. In terms of both performance and durability, the Kagama stands out among its competitors.
