Hardware Overview
The kit comes with three bags (A, B, and C) containing the necessary hardware for assembly. The screws used are of the same style throughout the build. Additionally, the kit includes nylon bushings and friction shock springs, though metal bearings and oil-filled shocks are recommended for upgrades.

Parts Overview
Look at the size of this pinion 29 to pinion gear, which is surprising and, like you guys know, these uh Tamia pinions are made of the finest Tamia cheese available. Very, very lightweight. These do not last very long Im going to build mine with a kit supplied 27 turn stock motor because Ive never driven one of these before, and I really just dont know how its going to perform if Id want more power or less power. So, Im going to start there thats a good starting point. Got some drinks, keep hydrated a parts B, Parts C parts body parts chassis Wheels tires: this is the speed controller were going to go with here. The Lipo taser 10 turn dont. Ask me why it was in stock: it looked cool, so we bought it. Weve got some nice Chrome bits here for the body. Weve got our decal sheet sitting here next to the holiday buggy whats, going on brother now before you get started on this build one thing: youre really going to want to do is familiarize yourself with your chassis layout.
Chassis Configuration
In this case, what Im referring to specifically is the wheelbase that youre looking to build, because this chassis is going to come in three different wheelbase configurations and on top of that, youve got this supplement manual here for your chassis settings. So again, weve got a short, medium and long wheel base, but we also have midship rear motor rear wheel drive and we also have a front motor front wheel, drive option in this chassis and then on top of that, weve also got the midship rear motor with The high mount motor position you can see here how the gearbox is kind of angled upwards.
Building Process

High Motor Position for Rear Traction
The motor sits up high, and here it says, the high motor position helps to boost rear traction useful when running in low grip conditions. It is important to align all electronics as mentioned in the Supplement manual before starting the build.
Building the Transmission
Starting to assemble the transmission as per the manual, step by step. The default configuration appears to be rear-wheel drive with the lay-down motor setup. It is crucial to refer to the manual and supplement for proper guidance before starting the build process.
Vintage Trans Am Racing Experience
Having prior experience in racing vintage Trans Am BTA, it is interesting to note the evolution of body designs. HPI used to produce VTA bodies with separate nose and rear cones, which were rigid but had a tapered effect. Tamiya’s Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA body features a sleek design, although the back portion may have some flexibility compared to the front.
The Thin Paper Back
The back is very thin paper, thin in fact. Look at that corner right. There Ive already got a little crack it’s like it’s starting to crack and it is like look at this guys wooo. She is thin thin, thin, thin thin thinner than my hairline and my early 30s yeah that thin hard to see cuz its all white, but yeah I’ve already torn it just trying to remove the plastic film off the outside help me I’m broken help me Phil, I’m Broken Phil I’m dying, some old Sho go going here and was going to back up that corner a little bit there I’m going to do the other Corner as well.
The Assembly Process
It hasn’t torn yet but let’s say it’s pretty susceptible to damage so we’re just going to shoo. It on up get it good and strong. Give that a little bit of time to cure up then we’ll put the stickers on afterwards 364 days later fast forward a few days and the MB-01 is all finished up check that bad boy out guys. Ah, does that ever look Music rad, oh yeah, there’s, the underside in case you’re wondering what that chassis looks like when it’s all put together, but all in all guys. I am really happy with how this chassis turned out.

Yes, it is going to touch on this side over here, not so much it squeezes in nicely, but yeah make sure you pay really good attention to these flares and make sure you pay good attention when you’re drilling these body post holes for the back to make Sure that everything is centered perfectly again. I’m off just a little bit. You can see this tire sticking out and not on this side.

I hope that helps answer your question. James again, on this side were just touching and on this side with the clearance were looking good and as for the rest of the build I’ll say, it went pretty quickly. I got this one done in only a few hours. This chassis was very simple to put together.
Versatility vs. Tamia Slop
I think all the versatility of this chassis is a good thing, but all that versatility came at a cost – what’s that cost? Tamia slop. How much of it? A lot of it, check this out. By having the exact same components in the front and the back, it really opens up this chassis to slop. You can see how much is going on in the front end and we’re used to that in the front end of a Tamiya and I think, to some extent, it’s acceptable. But then, if you go to the back of the chassis, being that we’re using the same components on the back that we’re using up front, there’s still a lot of slop here, up and down, and it’s sloppy. That’s the only complaint I have on this chassis.
Battery Compartment
What’s really important to talk about as well is the battery compartment.

If I open this bad boy up, you can see a nice rectangular battery compartment so lets see which batteries fit. I went with a couple popular choices that many folks have these days. These are getting on in their aid, but Im sure a lot of you guys are still using these 5000 milliamp gens Ace, wow Im, actually amazed. It fits that actually fits pretty good thats a hard case as well, so that guy fits in there lets try this one slightly different pack: 5200 milliamps, this time, the Z RC. I see a lot of these on Amazon. These days fits beautifully.

This is kind of like a round pack similar to an old school nikad and, of course, that guy just drops in beautifully just like that one final Build tip Ill. Give you guys you see right here in this little bit of video where the receiver I just planted the receiver, where I thought it would be a good spot uh and then, as you can see here, it was interfering with the steering, linkage and overtime. The threaded portion of the rod there could probably wear right through. I would think it would probably wear right through those wires uh, so I repositioned my receiver this way.

The stock friction shocks actually don’t seem that bad, and I know when I say that it sounds like BS but its its bouncy, but its not terrible.
