The New Pine Cone Models SG 1202 Pro RC Monster Truck
Introducing the latest addition to the RC car world – the Pine Cone Models SG 1202 Pro, a 1/12th scale monster truck that promises insane fun and speed. But, as with anything in life, there’s a catch.
The Rising Cost of Chinese RC Cars
Over the years, cheap Chinese RC cars have been a popular choice for beginners and hobbyists alike due to their affordability and decent quality. However, the landscape has changed, and these once budget-friendly options have seen a significant increase in prices without a corresponding improvement in quality.
A Shift in the RC Hobby Market
Remember when the WL Toys 144001 reigned supreme as the go-to budget Jeap RC car? Those days seem like a distant memory now, as the market has shifted towards higher price points with no guarantee of better performance or durability. It begs the question – when does a cheap Chinese RC car become too expensive?
The Price of Fun
And now, back to the Pine Cone Models SG 1202 Pro. While this RC monster truck promises plenty of fun and excitement, the cost may raise some eyebrows. It’s not as cheap as one would hope for, considering the current trend in the industry. The allure of affordable RC cars may be fading, leaving enthusiasts in a dilemma.
The Catch
Now this truck comes in at 181, which is over 200, and that means it’s more expensive than some of the lower end branded cars, which has kind of made this truck pointless. Already because I’m pretty sure, a lot of people are going to go for the branded option compared to something like this now.
The Cool Features
That said, it does still look really cool and even though it’s expensive, it does have some really cool features. Now let’s talk about some of the chassis features and then we’re going to get this thing out for a rip.
The Chassis Features
So we have a hard plastic front bumper, with an LED light bar. We’ve also got a roof skid on top with some more LED lights, a hard plastic rear bumper and a wheelie bar, and again we have got some more LED lights. The body shell on this one I don’t think it looks terrible. I actually think it looks really cool, but I know a lot of people will dislike this. And then, of course, we’ve got the wheels and tires. I don’t think these look too bad, and the compound that they’ve used on this is actually really soft. I think that’s going to grip really well. That’s actually one of the softest compounds I’ve come across on some of these cheap Chinese cars.
Underneath the Hood
Let’s take the body clips off and take a closer look underneath. I’m not really a fan of these body clips, but let’s have a look at some of the chassis features.
The Features
One of the nicest features on this RC car is the oil-filled adjustable shocks, which feel really good both on the front and rear. The plastic chassis is reinforced with metal, and the proper hex hardware adds to the durability. Metal cvds at the front and rear, along with adjustable turnbuckles, provide a solid foundation for this vehicle.
The Performance
Equipped with a 3660 3000 KV brushless motor and a 60 mpsc speed controller, this RC car is 2 to 3s ready for some serious speed. The 6 kg steering servo may not sound like much, but it should be sufficient for this truck’s size. With metal differentials and bearings throughout, this car is built to last.
The Catch
While the performance of this RC car is impressive, there is a catch when it comes to the battery tray. Despite looking decently sized, it can only hold a 2200 mAh battery. For a vehicle of this caliber, that capacity may seem limiting for long play sessions.
The Transmitter: A Pine Cone Model
We’ve got some Allen Keys, spare body clips, and a cross wrench. The transmitter for this new RC car is a pine cone model. It’s a familiar sight, similar to the sg1 1603. The transmitter comes with a foam grip on the wheel and has gyro adjustment, steering trim, and steering dual rate adjustments. There’s also a speed switch and a channel 3 button for LED lights control.
No Battery, No Charger
Now, you might be wondering, where’s the battery and the charger? Unfortunately, this new RC car doesn’t come with a battery or a charger. This means you’ll have to purchase them separately, adding to the overall cost of owning this speedy little car.
2S Speed Test
Let’s test the speed of this new RC car on 2s. The GPS is set up, and we’re ready to see how fast it can go. The manufacturer claims it can reach speeds of up to 43 mph on 3s, but let’s see what it can do on 2s. Full throttle, with a bit of help from the gyro for stability. It doesn’t feel too quick on 2s, but let’s see what the speed test reveals. Back to the start line for another run.
27 mph on 2s
After the speed test, we hit a top speed of 27 mph right out of the box on 2s. Now, with a 2200 mAh 3s battery fitted, there’s still plenty of space left in the car. You could potentially fit an even bigger battery pack for longer run times. This new RC car may be insanely fun and fast, but there’s a catch – you’ll need to invest in a battery and charger separately.
Insanely Fun and Fast
We go moving up to 3s lets start the GPS lets see what we can get on. 3S that’s definitely made it a lot quicker. Oh, we’re getting wheelies now full throttle. Is this going to hit 43 that’s Full Throttle, come on 43 claim top speed let’s see if it will do it now we see speed claims all the time and a lot of the time the cars never do the speed they promise on the box.
Impressive Stability
I really hope this thing does and that gyro does a really good job at keeping things nice and stable. So you can achieve top speed really easily, right let’s see what we got. Are we going to see 43 so let’s hit, stop and read 40 mph now that’s not a bad speed, considering the claim speed is 43 Ill, give them that that is pretty close to the speed they’ve advertised on the website.
Beast on 3s
So this thing is an entirely different beast on 3s, it handles really well, the shocks feel nice, and it’s quick, and it loves to pop wheelies what a beast so quick off-road test. Then now this thing did do as well as I expected. I knew it was going to grip really well on road because of the soft compound tires and Offroad. It also performs and handles really well now the truck feels planted on 3s.
Usability and Power
It does Love To Wheelie, but it never feels unusable, and I love it when you can use all of the Power available and it doesn’t become aure to drive, and there are some trucks out there that feel so overpowered on 3s.
The Power and Handling
The Pine Cone Models 1202 Pro RC Car is undeniably a beast when it comes to power and speed. Despite being just 1/12 scale, this little truck can handle the power it packs with ease. The precision in its handling is a testament to the quality of engineering that has gone into its design.
Price Comparison
While the performance of the Pine Cone Models 1202 Pro is impressive, the price point at which it sits is a crucial factor to consider. It competes with larger branded options in terms of cost, which may give some consumers pause. The real question is whether the performance justifies the price tag.
Parts Availability
One of the major drawbacks of opting for a cheaper Chinese RC car like the Pine Cone Models 1202 Pro is the availability of replacement parts. While you can easily find parts for more established brands like Arrma, sourcing specific components for this model might prove to be a challenge. This could potentially lead to frustrating downtimes for enthusiasts.
Comparison to Competitors
One common comparison that arises in discussions about the Pine Cone Models 1202 Pro is with the MJX Hyper Go. While the latter may have its own set of advantages, such as speed and agility, the size of the Pine Cone model gives it an edge in handling off-road terrain. For enthusiasts who prioritize off-road performance over sheer speed, this model may be the better option.
The Thrill of Speed
Zooming around the track with the new RC car is an exhilarating experience. The speed at which it zips past obstacles is truly unmatched. The rush of adrenaline as you watch it whiz by is simply addictive.
Unleashing Fun
The sheer joy of controlling the RC car and watching it perform stunts is undeniable. The fun factor of this toy is off the charts, making it perfect for anyone looking for a good time. It’s guaranteed to keep you entertained for hours on end.
A Noteworthy Obstacle
However, there is a catch that cannot be ignored – the price. While the excitement of the RC car is undeniable, the cost may give some pause. Is it worth paying such a hefty amount for this new toy, or would opting for a branded alternative be a wiser choice?
A Matter of Consideration
The availability of spare parts is another factor to be taken into account. Will you be able to easily find replacement parts for this RC car, or would it prove to be a hassle in the long run? These are questions that need to be carefully weighed before making a decision.
Conclusion
As the world of RC cars continues to evolve, the balance between price and quality becomes increasingly fragile. The Pine Cone Models SG 1202 Pro is a prime example of this dilemma – offering exhilarating performance at a price that may give pause to even the most ardent hobbyist. Is the thrill of speed worth the investment? Only time will tell.
In conclusion, this new RC car offers insane fun and speed with its powerful brushless motor and adjustable features. However, the limited battery capacity may be a drawback for those looking for extended playtime. Overall, it’s a solid option for thrill-seekers looking for a fast and enjoyable RC experience.
In conclusion, the Pine Cone Models 1202 Pro is a fantastic RC car that offers a thrilling experience straight out of the box. Its speed and off-road capabilities are sure to delight hobbyists looking for a high-performance model. However, the potential issue of parts availability and the competitive pricing landscape are factors worth considering before making a purchase. Ultimately, it all comes down to personal preferences and priorities when it comes to choosing the right RC car for you.
As you weigh the pros and cons of this new RC car, one thing is certain – the thrill and excitement it provides are unparalleled. Whether the price justifies the fun it delivers is a decision that each individual must make for themselves. So, in the end, the question remains – is the catch worth the thrill?
