We might try that later. Maybe maybe not, I don’t know right now. Well, let’s get it fitted and then we’ll take it out for a rip. So, the gear that’s on it is a 54-tooth. We’re going to switch to the 46, a smaller spur gear, for more wheel speed. The motor locates with its pin system, and we are running an 18-tooth pinion with a 46-tooth spur. This means we have to put our pins into E, which is going to lock it into place and set our mesh. This ensures that the whole lot is not going to move. Boom, and ready for action.

Power Connection

Almost there. I’m going to run this truck on these Onyx Li-Pose that fit in there perfectly. However, these have got an IC Festar connector and the Traxxas one is not compatible. So, I’ve got some Onyx connectors here. Just hold on to it. Bye-bye tractor warranty. There we go, all ready for action. The controller even comes with a little TQI link model thing in the back of it. That means you can get an app on your phone and change a few settings and stuff. There we go, all plugged in, steering plenty of speed and power. But, more importantly, what’s it going to be like on carpet? Boom, perfect for carpet.

Testing Speed

Alright, let’s go. Here we are on location, look at the weather. But we’ve got the GPS on. There we go, full speed. It works a lot more stable on these tires, but what’s it going to say for speed? 42 mph. So, we’re going to need to gear it up a little bit later on to try and get that 50. Let’s see what it can really do.

The whole thing just feels a lot tighter to drive and most of that, it’s probably due to these new belted tires and the aluminum parts on the steering and the better servo. Although these steering links here I’d put them back to stock in a future video, I want to gear it up a little bit more, get a little bit more top speed out of it, where these tires don’t really balloon much. When these tires balloon, it gears up the truck as it goes along, so you get more speed and you get more rotation and stuff for stunts in the air, but with is being belted.
