However, I’m here to tell you that you would be mistaken. Kyosho has pleasantly surprised us with this new offering. While I do have a gripe with Kyosho still using body post and body pins, the body design itself is truly remarkable.
A Stunning Body
Now, I haven’t seen every single body out there, but I have to say that Kyosho has knocked it out of the park with this one. I am reminded of their Tama lineups and the exceptional quality of the Killer Bodies. In fact, if you take a look in the background, you’ll notice another Killer Body that we will be discussing further. The Kyosho Mk2 Fazer FZ02 R comes with a 1/10 scale body, and I must say, this body truly rocks! The attention to detail and overall aesthetics are commendable.
What’s in the Kit
Let’s move on to what you can expect to find in the kit. Along with the car itself, you will receive an alternate set of body posts. This allows for some flexibility and customization options when it comes to attaching the body. Additionally, the kit includes server horns, screws, and adjustments for the shots. But I say if this is your first rc give it a read and check it out, and this is the Synchro KT 231p Plus controller Ive. Had this controller on the channel for quite some bit has all of your settings foam wheel, ergonomical setting? Hopefully, you guys see that this. This is good for a first controller, I have no problems with it. Nice foam grip on the backside, four aas down below Ive even had the one with the digital display, so we wont be going too much further on this controller.
Subaru Impreza WRC 2002 Version: A Stunning Addition
Subaru Impreza WRC 2002 version of the Kyosho phaser MK2 FZ o2. This is going to come in as the shorter wheelbase or the standard wheelbase lets not call it. The shorter wheelbase the standard wheel base for a 1110th scale, onroad car. So if you own the chevel or the GTO, or even the charger, because Ive own, I own all three th, those are the longer wheelbase chassis of the phaser lineup.
Gorgeous Body and Temporary Light Kit
This thing is downright gorgeous guys and Im going to bring the body up close. Give me one. Second well come back, I actually put a temporary light kit to it and I just need to disconnect the temporary light kit, so I can give you guys a nice personal look of the body.

Kyosho Mk2 Fazer FZ02 R First Look
Kosho has introduced another rally-type car, but upon closer inspection, it seems to be more like an on-road car. This might sound odd, but let me explain why. Approximately a year ago, Kosho released a rally kit for their Phaser lineup. However, this rally kit, designed for the short wheelbase version, could be installed on the long wheelbase version. Unfortunately, there were no bodies available that would perfectly complement the rally kit, making it a true rally car. That’s why I refrained from modifying my longer wheelbase Koso Phasers.
Fortunately, Kosho finally developed a rally kit that rectified this flaw. The updated rally kit features taller shock towers to accommodate longer shocks, providing increased clearance in the front and rear of the car. This means that the shock positions have been improved, with two shock positions located below and three shock positions positioned higher up. It’s important to note that the drivetrain remains unchanged, including the dog bones and center drive shaft.
In addition to the new shock towers, the rally kit also includes new arms and upper links, ensuring improved performance. To enhance the driving experience, Kosho also included new springs in the kit. While the rally kit was initially offered as a separate purchase, all these rally-specific parts are now available in the Ready-to-Run (RTR) version of the Kyosho Mk2 Fazer FZ02 R.
As an avid enthusiast, I have been eagerly waiting for Kosho to release an RTR version of their rally kit for the past year. Initially, there were rumors of a November release, but the launch was eventually pushed to late December. Finally, we now have an RTR version that includes all the rally-specific parts that were previously offered separately.
With the Kyosho Mk2 Fazer FZ02 R, you can expect a thrilling rally experience with enhanced shock positions and improved performance due to the upgraded arms and upper links. It utilizes the same brush and DSC (Dynamic Stability Control), maintaining consistency in performance. The steering servo remains unchanged as well, ensuring precise control and maneuverability.
A True Rally Setup
What sets the FZ02 R apart is its rally setup. This means that the car is specifically designed for off-road adventures. One noticeable difference is the increased travel of the suspension. Unlike the standard phaser models, the FZ02 R provides exceptional ground clearance, allowing you to tackle rough terrains effortlessly. You can easily fit your entire hand underneath the chassis, showcasing the impressive height of the car.
Comparing Rally and Standard Phaser

Let’s start by taking a look at the standard version of the Kyosho Mk2 Fazer FZ02 R. This car, known as the Chevel, showcases the classic features of the phaser line. From the height of the wheels to the clearance of the bumper, everything about this version screams street racing. The shock tower and the wheels are designed for optimal performance on standard terrains.
The Rally Edition
Now let’s shift our attention to the rally edition of the Mk2 Fazer FZ02 R. One look at the taller wheels and you’ll understand that this car means business on rough terrains. The increased tire height and larger bumper clearance make it ideal for off-road adventures. The taller shock tower is a clear indication of its enhanced suspension capabilities. While the diff cases remain the same, the rally edition stands out with its rugged design.
Metal Drive Shaft and Outdrives
While the standard version of the Mk2 Fazer FZ02 R comes with composite drive shafts, I opted for a metal drive shaft in my Chevel. Even though the brushed motors deliver a decent amount of power, I found that the composite drive shafts could cause some vibration. By upgrading to a metal drive shaft, I hoped to eliminate this issue.
In addition to the drive shaft, I also replaced the plastic outdrives with metal ones. While this is a modification that is not necessary for the brushed motors, I highly recommend it for those planning to go brushless. The metal outdrives provide added durability to withstand the increased power. Only time will tell how this upgrade performs on the track.

Kyosho Mk2 Fazer FZ02 R First Look: Off-Road Performance
This is going to be off road. I figure that the Center Drive Shaft is going to be scarred with rocks and everything else when I go Offroad with it, so we’ll see how this performs.
Differences in Design
Once again, the Talla shock Tower uh, the arms are slightly different. Stance of this is slightly wider. On the rally Edition, clearly, you guys can see now that with the standard edition, uh one10 scale and how much longer the long wheel base is from these two cars.
The Perfect Rally Build RC
Now, I wanted to bring this front and center and reason why this is my only other 110 Scale true rally build RC. This is a LC racing, 110 scale, 110 scale RC with a killer body shell on it. This thing looks ridiculous and Killerb really did a good job with the Lancia on here, and I didn’t think anyone could get better than this until I saw Kyosho.
Impressive Body Design
Kyosho really did their thing with this body, you know just going back, you can see killer body. It is one of the really good ones out there and you can see the scale bits in the front wipers, rear view mirrors, all of the scaleless that comes with this, and this car comes like this.
No Modifications Required
I didn’t do anything to this other than probably putting on the mirrors on there after shipping, so for you guys that are not familiar with the Lancia. This is the LC racing Lancia. I’ve had this on the channel before I’ve done, an unboxing did a drive video.
Upgrading the Electronics
When I first got my hands on the Kyosho Mk2 Fazer FZ02 R, I must admit that I was not impressed with the stock electronics. There was something about them that just didn’t sit right with me. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and purchased new hobby Wing electronics for the car. Although I haven’t installed them yet, I am looking forward to updating the electronics in the near future. However, this task is currently quite low on my priority list, as I have a multitude of other cars that require my attention.
Prioritizing Other Cars
As an avid hobbyist, I have accumulated a vast collection of cars over time. It’s safe to say that I have my work cut out for me when it comes to maintaining and improving them. Unfortunately, the Kyosho Mk2 Fazer FZ02 R is not at the top of my pecking order when it comes to pouring my time and efforts into it. There are simply other cars that are in dire need of my attention. That being said, if there is enough demand from my audience, I am open to the idea of showcasing a rally challenge between the Kyosho and another car in my collection.

Recently, I conducted a rally shootout involving eight different scales. The response from my viewers was overwhelming, and many expressed their desire to see more of these types of videos.
