Electronics
Among the three RC monster trucks, the Traxxas Sledge takes the back seat in terms of electronics. Its ESC motor combination lacks power compared to the Corally Kagama and Arrma Kraton. Additionally, its server is disappointingly slow with decent torque but overall sluggish performance.
Design
When it comes to design, all three monster trucks offer unique and eye-catching aesthetics. The Traxxas Sledge boasts a sleek and aggressive appearance, with attention to detail in its construction. The Corally Kagama impresses with its stylish body, while the Arrma Kraton features a rugged design that screams durability.
Performance
In terms of performance, the Arrma Kraton dominates the race. Its 6S capability and four-wheel drive system provide exceptional power and control, allowing for thrilling and heart-pounding adventures. The Corally Kagama also delivers impressive performance with its powerful electronics, while the Traxxas Sledge falls behind in this category as well.
Durability
When it comes to durability, the Arrma Kraton shines bright. Its solid construction and quality materials ensure that it can withstand the toughest off-road terrains and endure countless hours of intense bashing. The Corally Kagama also fares well in this category, while the Traxxas Sledge lags a bit behind.
Support
In terms of support, all three brands offer reliable customer service and readily available spare parts. Traxxas, being a well-established brand, is known for its excellent support system. Corally and Arrma also have a strong presence in the RC community, providing enthusiasts with the necessary support and assistance.
Value
Finally, when it comes to value for money, the Arrma Kraton offers the best deal. Its combination of powerful performance, durability, and design at a reasonable price point makes it a top choice for RC enthusiasts. The Corally Kagama also offers good value for its performance capabilities, while the Traxxas Sledge may be slightly overpriced compared to its competitors.
In conclusion, after evaluating the electronics, design, performance, durability, support, and value, the Arrma Kraton EXB emerges as the clear winner in this RC monster truck shootout. Its outstanding performance, durability, and overall value make it the best choice among the Traxxas Sledge and Corally Kagama. Whichever RC monster truck you choose, these three brands offer thrilling and exciting off-road adventures for RC enthusiasts.
Performance in Electronics
Quite an important aspect of RC monster trucks is their performance in electronics. In this category, the Arrma Kraton EXB, Corally Kagama, and Traxxas Sledge have different strengths and weaknesses. Out of the box, the Kraton EXB and Kagama have a Category T radio, which is not that great. Although the Kraton EXB has AC, there are only two adjustments that can be made. However, if you get the tra link, it becomes pretty good, especially when compared to the Kagama and CR.
In terms of speed, the Kagama takes the lead. Its ESC motor combination is the fastest by far, making it a great option for those who prioritize speed. On the other hand, the Kraton EXB has a better radio receiver with the dsmr protocol, allowing you to bind it to any other Spectrum. The Kraton EXB also has the best servo in its class. However, it is worth noting that the GS servo in the Kagama tends to fail at a higher than average rate, making it a little below average in terms of reliability.
Ultimately, when it comes to deciding between the motor ESC power combination and the radio receiver and servo, most people would likely prioritize the motor ESC. Therefore, in terms of electronics, the Kagama with its impressive ESC motor combination takes the lead, with the Kraton EXB coming in second place.
Design Considerations
While not always at the forefront of everyone’s mind, design plays an important role in the overall experience of an RC monster truck. In this regard, the Sledge has some weaknesses. One notable flaw is its battery compartment, which is incapable of holding larger size batteries. This means you are limited to using Traxxas 6s packs or small soft packs, which can be frustrating for those who prefer other battery options. Additionally, the Sledge’s design is not as aesthetically pleasing or visually impressive as the Kraton EXB or Kagama.
Arrma Kraton EXB
The Arrma Kraton EXB is a 6S RC monster truck that certainly packs a punch. One notable feature of this truck is its motor mount, which is secured by four screws. However, it should be noted that the mesh adjustment can be a bit tricky without an insert. Unfortunately, Arrma only provides one insert, making it difficult to fine-tune the mesh. Additionally, the motor placement in the front of the chassis leaves little room for other components. Despite these limitations, the Arrma Kraton EXB is still a popular choice among enthusiasts.
Corally Kagama
The Corally Kagama is another contender in the world of RC monster trucks. It is worth mentioning that the design of the Kagama may not appeal to everyone. However, one standout feature of this truck is its innovative body mount system. This system makes it incredibly easy to attach and detach the body, although it may occasionally come loose during intense driving sessions. Unfortunately, the battery strap system of the Kagama leaves something to be desired. With only two straps and the need for an additional insert for larger batteries, it lacks the practicality and convenience found in some other models.
Traxxas Sledge
The Traxxas Sledge, in comparison to the other two trucks, falls slightly behind. Its design may not win over many fans, but there is one aspect that deserves praise – the body mount system. Traxxas has introduced an innovative design that simplifies the process of mounting and removing the body, making it a standout feature. However, apart from this, there are not many remarkable elements to the Sledge’s design. Overall, it lacks the durability and performance enhancements found in the Kraton EXB and Kagama.
Comparison
When comparing the three trucks, it is clear that the Kagama and the Crane share some similarities in their design. However, the Kagama boasts additional bracing throughout the vehicle, providing added support. On the contrary, the Crane impresses with its machined aluminum slipper housing, a feature that adds strength and durability to the truck. Both trucks have their advantages and disadvantages in terms of design, but they ultimately offer a solid performance.
Design
The 6S RC Monster Truck comes in three options: Arrma Kraton EXB, Corally Kagama, and Traxxas Sledge. When it comes to design, the Arrma Kraton EXB stands out. It offers the most adjustments, including shock mounting locations and camber link mounting locations. Additionally, it provides various spray bar options, making it closer to its heritage as a race vehicle. On the other hand, the Corally Kagama leans more towards a bash-oriented design, while the Traxxas Sledge falls behind. The Arrma Kraton EXB also excels in terms of ease of maintenance, making it a preferred choice for many.
Performance
In terms of performance, the electronics play a crucial role. The Traxxas Sledge lags behind in this aspect, with the slowest electronics and no adjustability. Its servo is also slower, which affects its steering capabilities. Moreover, the tires on the Sledge are considered the worst among the three options. On the other hand, both the Arrma Kraton EXB and Corally Kagama perform better in this category. While the Sledge may require some shock tuning, the overall performance is impacted slightly when compared to the Kraton and Kagama.
Arrma Kraton EXB
The Arrma Kraton EXB undoubtedly brings power to the table. Its electronics are in a league of their own, offering unparalleled speed and immense power. In fact, it might even be too fast for most people to handle. While on 4S, it performs like what other trucks do on 6S. This monster truck pushes the limits and is certainly not for the faint-hearted. However, the drawback of its exceptional speed is that it requires ample space to truly unleash its potential. Even in a slightly confined area like a park, the Kraton EXB quickly runs out of space to fully exploit its capabilities.
Corally Kagama
When it comes to electronics, the Corally Kagama takes the crown. This beast boasts the fastest and most powerful electronics in the 6S RC Monster Truck realm. The sheer amount of power it exudes is mind-boggling. In fact, one might argue that it is too much power for the average user. The performance of the Kagama on 4S is equivalent to what most other trucks achieve on 6S. This monster truck sets a new standard with its electronic capabilities. However, its lightning speed requires a certain level of expertise to handle, making it more suitable for experienced enthusiasts. It is truly a force to be reckoned with.
Traxxas Sledge
Compared to the other two contenders, the Traxxas Sledge falls slightly short in terms of overall durability. Out of the box, it is probably the least durable of the three options. Even simple landings can result in minor damages or breakages to the chassis. Although one cannot blame the Sledge for every mishap, such as landing on an unfortunate fence post, it does raise concerns about its resilience. That being said, the Sledge does offer good electronics. The V2 black spec electronic ESA motor combination is a standout feature. Additionally, the improved RTR Servo electronics elevate its performance to a commendable level.
Arrma Kraton EXB
The Arrma Kraton EXB is a 6S RC monster truck that offers impressive performance and durability. However, there are a few aspects that could be improved. One of the concerns with this truck is the motor Rush, which tends to move around a bit. While you can gear it up to stabilize its position, it still requires some additional adjustments. Another area of concern is the diffs, which are made from weak metals. As a result, it is not uncommon to break the diffs on this truck. There are upgraded machined discs available, but it would be ideal if the stock diffs were more durable.
Corally Kagama
The Corally Kagama is another 6S RC monster truck that deserves attention. Unlike the Arrma Kraton EXB, there is no need to immediately upgrade the diffs upon purchase. The stock diffs are reliable and can handle regular use without any issues. This makes the Kagama a promising option for those seeking a reliable out-of-the-box monster truck. In terms of durability, the Kagama holds up well and can handle large jumps without any problems.
Traxxas Sledge
The Traxxas Sledge, although a capable 6S RC monster truck, falls short compared to its counterparts. Out of the box, it lacks the same level of durability as the Arrma Kraton EXB and the Corally Kagama. The diffs, in particular, are made from weaker materials and can break more easily. However, if you are willing to upgrade the chassis and invest in a motor mount or inserts for the motor plate, the Sledge can become a more reliable option.
Durability Comparison
When comparing the overall durability of these monster trucks, the Corally Kagama and the Arrma Kraton EXB come out on top. Both trucks can withstand regular use and handle large jumps without major issues. The Corally Kagama, in particular, demonstrates its durability by maintaining its performance even during high-intensity maneuvers like double back flips and 20-foot high jumps. While the Traxxas Sledge can be made more reliable with upgrades, it falls behind the other two trucks in terms of out-of-the-box durability.
In conclusion, the Arrma Kraton EXB and the Corally Kagama are the top choices among the 6S RC monster trucks discussed. They offer a good balance of performance and durability, with the Kagama standing out for its reliable stock diffs and the Kraton EXB being a strong performer overall. The Traxxas Sledge, while capable, requires more upgrades to reach the same level of durability as its counterparts, making it a slightly weaker option out of the box.
Arrma Kraton EXB
The Arrma Kraton EXB is a beast of a 6S RC monster truck. It is known for its durability and ability to handle rough terrains. However, there are a few weak points to consider.
Durability
The Arrma Kraton EXB is built to withstand some serious bashing. It can handle jumps, flips, and hard landings without breaking a sweat. But, like any RC monster truck, it is not invincible. If you happen to land upside down or on an arm, there is a chance that something might break. However, overall, the Kraton EXB holds up really well.
Weaknesses
One weakness that has been identified is the wing. The wing of the Kraton EXB tends to bend, crack, and fall off easily. This is something that users might want to consider changing or reinforcing to prevent any issues during intense bashing sessions. Another potential weak point is the servo. While the Servo SP used in the Kraton EXB is generally reliable, there have been cases of it breaking. It is recommended to keep an eye on the servo and be prepared to replace it if necessary.
Parts Availability
When it comes to parts availability, Arrma falls slightly behind Traxxas. However, they still have a wide range of parts available for the Kraton EXB. It might require a bit more effort to find the parts compared to Traxxas, but they can still be easily obtained. Arrma also has a good customer service team. If you need any assistance, they are available 7 days a week and are quick to respond to inquiries.
Warranty
Arrma offers a 30-day warranty on their products. However, it’s important to note that they are quite strict with their warranty policy. They generally do not send replacement parts for plastic components that break, unless it is a manufacturing defect right out of the box. This might differ from other brands that offer a more lenient warranty policy. Overall, while the warranty might not be the greatest, the support provided by Arrma is reliable.
Corally Kagama
The Corally Kagama is another 6S RC monster truck that should not be overlooked. It boasts impressive durability and parts availability.
Durability
The Kagama is an incredibly durable RC monster truck. It can handle harsh landings, flips, and crashes without much trouble. It holds up really well even in intense bashing sessions. However, there is one weakness that users have pointed out – the wing. The wing of the Kagama tends to bend, crack, and fall off easily. This is something to keep in mind and potentially reinforce to ensure uninterrupted action.
Parts Availability and Customer Service
When it comes to parts availability, the Kagama shines. Corally has made sure that their parts are easily accessible. You can find them in most hobby shops, and their online presence also ensures that you can order anything you need with ease. Additionally, Corally has reliable customer service. If you have any concerns or questions, they are available to assist you promptly.
Warranty
Corally offers a standard 30-day warranty on their products.
Arrma Kraton EXB: Best RC Monster Truck
The Arrma Kraton EXB is undoubtedly one of the best RC monster trucks in the market. With its excellent part support within the US, it has gained popularity among RC enthusiasts. Many hobby shops carry Arrma products, as it is a major brand that guarantees quality.
One significant advantage of the Arrma Kraton EXB is its impressive warranty policy. Offering a warranty of either 2 months or 2 years, Arrma proves to be generous in ensuring customer satisfaction. This warranty policy sets Arrma apart from its competitors and makes it a reliable choice for RC monster truck enthusiasts.
Corally Kagama: A Smaller Brand with Lesser Support
In comparison to Arrma, Corally Kagama is a smaller brand in the US market. Although it may not have as many hobby shops carrying its parts, it is still a decent option for RC enthusiasts. Parts for Corally Kagama trucks can be found at HRP, ensuring that you have access to the necessary components for maintenance and repairs.
While Corally Kagama ranks third in terms of support and maintenance, it still offers a satisfactory experience for RC monster truck enthusiasts who prefer a more niche brand in the market. However, it is important to note that the availability of parts may vary depending on your location within the US.
Traxxas Sledge: A Questionable Value Proposition
The Traxxas Sledge, priced at $700 in the US, does not seem to offer the same value as its competitors. While prices may vary depending on your location worldwide, it is still important to consider the components and build quality of the truck.
In terms of value, the Traxxas Sledge falls short. The components it comes with are nothing particularly special, and it is made in Taiwan. While the country of origin does not necessarily indicate inferior quality, the Traxxas Sledge’s metal parts seem subpar compared to its competitors. Additionally, most of its components are made of plastic, including the links, which may not withstand heavy usage.
Compared to the Arrma Kraton EXB and Corally Kagama, the Traxxas Sledge is on the pricier side, which raises questions about its value proposition. While the Crane model offers machined diff housings, 7075 parts, and EXB differentials, the Traxxas Sledge fails to meet the same standards.
In conclusion, when considering the best RC monster truck, the Arrma Kraton EXB stands out as a reliable and well-supported option. While Corally Kagama offers a niche experience, the Traxxas Sledge may not be the most value-for-money choice. Ultimately, the choice depends on individual preferences and requirements.
Arrma Kraton EXB
The Arrma Kraton EXB is a 6S RC monster truck that offers great value for money. Its aluminum center braces and other components make it a reliable and durable vehicle. Compared to other models like the Traxxas Sledge, the Arrma Kraton EXB stands out with its high-quality electronics.
Corally Kagama
The Corally Kagama is a more affordable option compared to the Arrma Kraton EXB. Despite the lower price, it still has some attractive features like spring steel out drives and aluminum differentials. The Kagama also boasts better electronics, making it a decent choice for RC enthusiasts.
Traxxas Sledge
The Traxxas Sledge takes third place in this review, scoring eight points overall. While it may not excel in any specific category, it does have an advantage in support and maintenance. Traxxas parts are widely available, making it easier to find replacements and accessories for this monster truck.
Value Category
When it comes to the value category, the Arrma Kraton EXB takes the lead despite its higher price. It offers all the features of the Corally Kagama and more, including machine pistons, aluminum shocks with caps and bleeder screws, and adjustable turnbuckles. The 7075 sh TOS in chassis also adds to its value.
Arrma Kraton EXB
The Arrma Kraton EXB is a 6S RC Monster Truck that boasts impressive performance and durability. With its powerful motor and robust design, it is a top contender in the RC monster truck market. The Kraton EXB is known for its excellent part support, making it convenient for those who may need replacement parts. This availability of parts at local hobby shops is a significant advantage for users. However, it is important to note that the Kraton EXB is tied with other models in terms of points and category wins.
Corally Kagama
Another contender in the 6S RC Monster Truck category is the Corally Kagama. Like the Kraton EXB, the Kagama offers great value for money and exceptional electronic components. Its design is also noteworthy, earning it points in the review. While it may not have the same level of part support as the Kraton EXB, the Kagama makes up for it with its overall performance and durability. In terms of longevity, the Kagama proves to be a reliable choice.
Traxxas Sledge
The Traxxas Sledge is yet another option for RC enthusiasts looking for a reliable and powerful 6S RC Monster Truck. While it may not have won in all the categories, the Sledge still offers an impressive combination of performance, durability, and design. With Traxxas being a well-established brand in the RC community, users can rely on the availability of parts and excellent customer support. The Sledge may not be the cheapest option, but it delivers on its promises.
Choosing the Best RC Monster Truck
With all these options in front of you, choosing the best RC monster truck ultimately comes down to personal preference and what you value the most. Each of these models has its own strengths and weaknesses. If tunability and custom adjustments are important to you, then the Arrma Kraton EXB might be the way to go. For those seeking speed and performance in drag racing, the Corally Kagama could be the better choice. Meanwhile, the Traxxas Sledge offers a combination of reliability, durability, and brand reputation.
In the end, the decision boils down to your specific requirements and priorities. Take into consideration factors such as part support, design, electronics, performance, and value for money. By carefully assessing these aspects and comparing them against your preferences, you can determine which 6S RC Monster Truck best suits your needs. Whether it is the Arrma Kraton EXB, Corally Kagama, or Traxxas Sledge, you are bound to have an exciting and thrilling RC monster truck experience.
Arrma Kraton EXB
Maybe the Kraton EXB is a little bit better, but uh yeah between the two of them. I think either one is a great choice. You know. Certainly part support is going to be better with the Arrma uh. The G, I think, is just a great all-around vehicle, but a little bit harder to get parts, so I don’t know pick either one.
Corally Kagama
I think they’re both great trucks. I don’t think you have a problem with either of them. I think they’re both good values as well at $619. I know it’s kind of a lot of money, but for a really good, 6s capable, really durable, uh and very fast vehicle. The Kagama is excellent and at you know, $80 more. The Kraton does come with some really nice choice bits, the aluminum differentials. By the way, did you notice how loud the Kraton is? Yeah, it’s all due to that uh differential housing, but yeah the parts on the Kagama are really nice, and certainly, you get all that value as well.
Traxxas Sledge
So anyways, I hope you enjoyed the video that was a little shootout between the top 1/8 scale Truggies you can get on the market today.
Conclusion
