Rc Cars Reviews

The Journey Begins

Yes, I finally have a 10th technology X10 in my possession. Well, technically it’s an XRS, but I’ll explain that in a moment. For those who have been following my show for the past four years, you may remember the first time I got my hands on one of these beauties. It was on loan to me, a pristine X10 that had never been run. If you haven’t seen those videos, I highly recommend checking them out. It was quite a journey for me to acquire this vintage RC unicorn.

A Love at First Sight

When I first had the opportunity to drive the X10, I was immediately captivated. It was like nothing I had ever experienced before. The sound it made, the way it handled, it was truly unique and special. From that moment on, I was determined to find one for myself. Unfortunately, even four years ago, they were incredibly hard to come by. But thanks to Lee from Elen Models, who tracked one down for me in France, my dreams became a reality. I acquired the X10 and it proudly joined my collection.

A Hard Goodbye

However, as fate would have it, I was offered a deal that I couldn’t resist. I made the difficult decision to part ways with my beloved X10 to pursue an opportunity that would enable me to create more content for all of you. It was a bittersweet farewell, and I couldn’t help but feel a pang of regret as I watched it leave my possession.

The Longing

For a considerable amount of time, I longed to have the X10 back in my collection. It held a special place in my heart, and I missed everything about it. Its unique design, its powerful performance, everything. I was determined to make it my own again.

A Second Chance

Finally, after much perseverance, I managed to gather enough funds to bid on another X10 RS. This model is essentially the same as the one I had before. The excitement and anticipation built up as the bidding process unfolded. And to my delight, I emerged as the proud winner. The vintage RC unicorn was returning to where it truly belonged – with me.

The Reunion

Now that the X10 RS has rejoined my collection, I couldn’t be happier. Its presence brings back memories of my initial encounter with the X10 and all the joy it brought me. I am grateful to have this special piece of RC history in my possession once again.

The X10 RS serves as a reminder that sometimes, when you truly desire something, the universe finds a way to bring it back to you. It may have taken time, perseverance, and even some sacrifices, but in the end, the reward is worth it. The vintage RC unicorn has returned, and its magic continues to inspire and captivate me.

Unveiling a Vintage RC Unicorn

When I first laid eyes on the vintage RC unicorn, I couldn’t contain my excitement. It was a dream come true, or so I thought. Little did I know, this charming unicorn had a few surprises in store for me.

A Hidden Basket Case

I eagerly filmed a video upon its arrival, ready to showcase my newfound treasure to the world. However, as I inspected the RC unicorn further, it became evident that it was a mere shadow of its former self. It had been assembled haphazardly with random parts, an unfortunate result of someone trying to turn a profit. The advertisement failed to mention any of these hidden flaws.

I encourage you to watch my video to witness the extent of the issues I encountered. From mechanical faults to missing components, this RC unicorn was a true basket case. Disappointed, I decided to return it.

Resignation and Unexpected Blessings

As I bid farewell to the flawed RC unicorn, I reluctantly accepted the harsh reality that my dream might never come true. But as they say, the RC gods work in mysterious ways. Just when I had given up hope, fate intervened and presented me with another opportunity.

With caution in my heart, I cautiously listened to the promises of the unicorn’s current owner. According to them, this unicorn was in pristine condition and unaltered for years. Skeptical yet intrigued, I requested images to verify their claims. Satisfied with what I saw, I decided to take a leap of faith and give it a chance.

A Transformation Unveiled

When the unicorn finally arrived, it was not in the best shape. Its body donned a peculiar black marking, as if an amateur had taken a marker and colored in the front and rear wings. Nonetheless, I embarked on a mission to restore its true beauty.

With a touch of Tamia polycarbonate cleaner, the black markings faded away, revealing the unicorn’s original luster. The body, although painted on the outside, was the correct one. However, the cutting edges around it were rough, perhaps indicating years of previous use.

Undeterred by these initial imperfections, I saw great potential in this vintage RC unicorn. With careful restoration and attention to detail, I intend to bring it back to its former glory.

As I delve into this journey of restoration, I am reminded that treasures like these often come with surprises. While setbacks may initially dampen our spirits, it is the resilience and determination that push us forward. The vintage RC unicorn’s return is not just a mere acquisition, but an opportunity to revive a piece of history and create new memories.

The Impeccable Condition

Let’s start by discussing the spectacle that is the XRS. This vintage RC unicorn has retained its charm and allure, showcasing its impeccable condition. The original chassis has withstood the test of time, with hardly any visible wear and tear on the arms or the underside. This pristine state speaks volumes about the care that has been taken to preserve this beauty and maintain its authenticity.

Furthermore, what sets this XRS apart is the fact that it remains untouched. The bolts, an often-overlooked aspect, deserve special mention. Each bolt is in its correct place, showing no signs of being swapped out or replaced. It’s a rarity to find a vintage RC car in such original, unaltered condition, making this XRS all the more extraordinary.

A Triumph Over Steering Issues

Upon its arrival, the XRS encountered a minor setback with the steering mechanism. However, fear not, as our dedicated hobbyist quickly resolved this issue. Initially, it appeared that the steering was broken, but a closer inspection revealed the absence of a crucial component – a ball joint. With a stroke of luck, the crafty enthusiast produced a suitable ball joint and skillfully installed it, successfully reviving the functionality of the steering. Now, the XRS steers with precision and grace, just as it did in its heyday.

The Finishing Touches

As we scan the XRS, it’s impossible to ignore the stunning rims and the flawless suspension system. Every rim exudes a touch of elegance, in perfect harmony with the overall aesthetic of the car. The suspension performs flawlessly, undoubtedly a testament to the care bestowed upon this vintage unicorn. From bumper to bumper, there is no evidence of any actual damage, leaving the XRS in its original glory.

In conclusion, the return of this vintage RC unicorn, the XRS, exemplifies the love and dedication of collectors and hobbyists. Its exceptional condition, attention to detail, and triumphant revival from steering issues make this piece a one-of-a-kind treasure. Ordering a New Body

After acquiring a vintage RC unicorn, the first order of business was to get it a new body. The previous owner had fitted a body from a different model, so I decided to order an aftermarket one instead. Once it arrives, I will paint it up and fit it to the car, giving it a fresh new look.

A Missing Component

While examining the RC unicorn, I couldn’t help but notice something peculiar about the XRS model. The back wing mounts were clear, whereas on the X10, there is a bar that goes between them. Upon consulting the manual, I discovered that the bar was indeed missing from this particular model. It struck me as odd, considering there are numerous upgrade options available for these RC cars.

A Special Certificate

Among the paperwork that came with the RC unicorn was a certificate. Specifically, it is an XRS certificate marked as r158. The serial number is 6142, but disappointingly, there is no date specified. I find myself perplexed as to when exactly this model was released into the market.

Authentic Stickers

Thankfully, the package contained a pleasant surprise – a set of stickers. These stickers are the original ones that were meant to adorn the RC unicorn once it had its new body. I intend to affix the correct stickers to the body, ensuring that it truly reflects the authenticity of this vintage model.

The Elusive Box Art

At this point, I am unsure of what the original box art for the RC unicorn looked like. However, if I manage to find it, I will make an effort to match it as closely as possible. Of course, this depends on how complex the artwork is, but I am determined to capture the essence of this remarkable RC car.

Exciting Upgrade Options

One of the most exciting discoveries in the package was an XRS upgrade flyer. This flyer showcases a range of incredible upgrades and accessories that can enhance the performance and aesthetics of the RC unicorn. It’s filled with tempting options that can take this vintage model to new heights.

A Close Up on the Vintage RC Unicorn

Let me take a closer look at this captivating vintage RC unicorn that has returned to the scene. It’s a sight to behold, especially if you haven’t had the opportunity to see one up close before.

The first thing that caught my attention was the predator X10 XRS chassis settings sheet that came along with it. I can only assume that it was part of the package when it was originally purchased. It’s always fascinating to come across these little pieces of history that add to the authenticity of the item.

Upon further inspection, I discovered a few other small items that accompanied the unicorn. One of the concerns I had initially was the condition of the bur gear. From the images I had seen, it looked like it might have been damaged. However, upon closer examination, I realized that it was just covered in grime. I’m planning to clean it thoroughly to restore it to its former glory. Additionally, there was a spare one included in the package, which provides a sense of relief.

Furthermore, the package contained an assortment of bearings and clips. These little components are crucial to the functioning of the unicorn, and it’s always great to have spares on hand. It’s evident that the previous owner took good care of this beauty by providing these replacement parts.

A Rare Find

I feel incredibly fortunate to have acquired such a pristine unicorn for my collection. Vintage RC unicorns, in general, have become incredibly rare and difficult to come by. Finding one in such excellent condition is truly remarkable.

This unicorn holds a special place in my heart as it is one of my ultimate dream cars to add to my collection. Its uniqueness and charm make it an extraordinary addition to my prized possessions. This is definitely not an item that I am willing to part with, thank you very much.
