Many enthusiasts have debated whether this vehicle is truly a successor to the original MT410 or if it is an entirely different type of vehicle altogether. In this review, we will delve into the details of the MT410 2.0 to determine whether it lives up to the controversy surrounding it.
A Race Quality Machine
One thing that cannot be denied is that the MT410 2.0 is a race quality machine. It is based on the 410 2.0, a popular race short course truck from Tekno. However, it is also designed to cater to the bashing segment of the market. This means that it combines the durability and capability required for bashing with the precision and driving character of a race vehicle.
Impressive Performance
The performance of the MT410 2.0 is unquestionably excellent. The drivetrain is smooth and reliable, providing a seamless driving experience. The adjustable servo saver allows for customizable steering, giving drivers the option to tighten it down for more direct steering. The shocks work exceptionally well on normal size jumps, providing a smooth landing. However, on larger jumps, some issues may arise, which we will discuss further in the durability category.

The Importance of a Sensored Motor
While the MT410 2.0 allows you to provide your own electronics, it is highly recommended to use a sensored motor. Even if you opt for a basher class motor system, such as the one from Hobbywing, the addition of a sensored motor enhances the overall performance of the vehicle. It provides better throttle response and control, allowing for a smoother and more enjoyable driving experience.
Performance
The Tekno MT410 2.0 is an RC car that truly delivers in terms of performance. Its driving capabilities are simply awesome, allowing for easy control and precision. When operating this vehicle, you’ll feel like you’re always driving exactly how you want, and it responds exceptionally well to your input. The car’s performance is where it truly shines and stands out among its competitors. For its outstanding performance, I would give it four stars.
Shocks
However, there is one aspect of the Tekno MT410 2.0 that left me slightly disappointed – the shocks. While they function well under normal circumstances and perform fine for race-level jumps or smaller heights of around 5 to 8 feet, they don’t hold up as well when it comes to those massive 20-foot jumps. This means that for those who enjoy extreme jumps and landings, the shocks may feel a little underwhelming. Compared to its predecessor, the original MT410, which had larger shocks, these ones feel slightly inadequate for heavier vehicles. Due to this limitation, I would deduct one star from its overall rating.
Durability
When it comes to durability, the MT410 2.0 proves to be a highly robust RC car. It can withstand a great deal of rough usage and demonstrates impressive resilience. However, there is one notable flaw that I must mention – the motor mount screws. In my opinion, they are a little short and prone to coming loose. To address this issue, it’s advisable to replace them with slightly longer screws to ensure better stability and avoid any potential mishaps.
Controversial Reputation
The Tekno MT410 2.0 has gained a reputation as one of the most controversial RC cars of 2023. This is primarily due to its limited shock performance, which may disappoint those who desire to push the car to its limits with high jumps and extreme landings. As a result, it has sparked debate among RC hobbyists and enthusiasts, with some praising its overall performance while others express their disappointment in its jumping capabilities. This controversy only adds to the intrigue surrounding the MT410 2.0.

The Tekno MT410 2.0 is an incredibly durable RC car. It surpasses the original MT410 in terms of overall durability. The bumpers and body posts are particularly robust, ensuring the car can withstand the most rigorous of off-road adventures. The hinge pins and braces also hold up well, with no issues experienced so far. For those seeking even more durability, Tekno offers the option of a tower-to-tower brace, providing additional strength. The 7075 chassis is exceptionally tough, and even the smaller wheelbase variant shows no signs of bending. The necessity of the chassis bar is debatable, but it remains a viable option for those seeking extra reinforcement. The beefy arms and drivetrain further contribute to the vehicle’s impressive durability.
Shock Issues
While the Tekno MT410 2.0 excels in terms of durability, there is one area that presented some challenges – the shocks. During high jumps and intense maneuvers, the shock pistons experienced some breakage. Specifically, after a few packs, three out of the four shocks had broken pistons. This issue arose particularly during 20t high-speed backflips and jumps. It is important to note that while the shocks may encounter problems under extreme conditions, they generally hold up well in regular usage.
Performance
In terms of performance, the Tekno MT410 2.0 stands out as a top contender in the world of 1/10 RC monster trucks. The powerful motor and well-designed drivetrain deliver exceptional speed and acceleration, making it a joy to drive. Additionally, the car’s handling capabilities are impressive, allowing for precise control even on challenging terrains. The suspension system, despite the aforementioned shock issues, provides excellent stability and ensures a smooth ride. Overall, the performance of the Tekno MT410 2.0 is on par with the best in its class.
Design and Customization
The design of the Tekno MT410 2.0 is sleek and visually appealing. The attention to detail is evident, giving it an aesthetic edge over its competitors. The customizable nature of the car is another highlight. You have the option to personalize various aspects, such as the body, wheels, and paint scheme, allowing you to create a unique look that matches your style. This level of customization adds to the appeal of the Tekno MT410 2.0 and sets it apart from other RC monster trucks.
Molded Pistons and Design Issues
The Tekno MT410 2.0 is a highly sought-after RC car in the market, but it does come with some design concerns. One particular issue is related to the molded 13 mm pistons used in the shocks. While this may be subjective, in my opinion, there is a design flaw here. Most shocks typically include a metal washer underneath the piston, which helps support and redirect the forces acting on the piston. However, the molded pistons in the MT410 2.0 lack this support on the compression stroke. As a result, there isn’t sufficient support for the piston, and this has led to cracking in three of them.
The Need for Machined Pistons
If you’re planning to engage in big jumps with the MT410 2.0, it is highly recommended to upgrade to machined pistons. These pistons have greater durability and strength, making them better suited for extreme jumps and rough terrains. Personally, I opted for the machined Del Pistons, using the E hole pistons in the front and five-hole pistons in the rear. This setup provides a slightly less packed feel during jumps. While I can’t be certain of the long-term effectiveness, the car has held up well during my jump sessions thus far.
Concerns about Durability
Durability is a significant concern when it comes to the Tekno MT410 2.0. Despite being marketed as an improved version of the original MT410, there are concerns about long-term durability. However, apart from the issue with the shock pistons, I must admit that the rest of the vehicle seems indestructible. In fact, it appears even more durable than its predecessor. This is somewhat perplexing, considering that I did encounter breakages with the original MT410. So, while the overall durability has seemingly improved in certain areas, the concern about the shock pistons remains.
The Controversial Tekno MT410 2.0: Is It Worth the Hype?
When it comes to RC cars, one model has been making waves in the industry – the Tekno MT410 2.0. But is it truly deserving of the title “Most Controversial RC car of 2023?” Let’s delve into this highly anticipated 1/10 RC Monster Truck and see if it lives up to all the buzz.
Durability: Above Average Performance
One aspect that sets the Tekno MT410 2.0 apart is its durability. While some enthusiasts wondered if the original MT410 shocks would fit, it seems they might be too big and long. Despite this setback, the overall durability and robustness of the truck are commendable, even surpassing its predecessor. However, there is one notable flaw – the piston mechanism. It leaves room for improvement but doesn’t hinder the truck’s performance significantly.
Tekno: A Rising Star in the Racing Scene
Tekno may not be a household name in the RC world, but it holds a prominent place in the racing community. If you’re into racing and frequent a scale track, chances are they carry Tekno parts. This brand has gained popularity as a racing platform, especially within the United States. However, it faces fierce competition from bigger brands like Arma, Traxxas, and Team Associated, which may affect its availability of parts. In terms of support and maintenance, the Tekno MT410 2.0 receives a three-star rating.
Ease of Maintenance: A DIY Enthusiast’s Dream
One advantage of the Tekno MT410 2.0 is its ease of maintenance. If you’re familiar with any 1/10 scale vehicles, you’ll find that it’s relatively easy to work on. With quick access to the disc and only six screws to remove the diff cover for center differential access, DIY enthusiasts will appreciate the simplicity. Some users may raise concerns about the motor mount’s fixed position, but removing the top screw on the cover and five screws underneath allows you to completely remove the motor and center differential mounts.
Overall, the Tekno MT410 2.0 is causing quite a stir in the RC car world. Its durability, combined with the racing pedigree of the Tekno brand, makes it an attractive option for enthusiasts. While it may face tough competition from more established brands, its ease of maintenance and potential for upgrades make it appealing to DIY enthusiasts. Whether this controversial truck lives up to the hype or not, one thing is for sure – it has managed to spark discussions among RC enthusiasts worldwide.
Electronics and Space
When it comes to electronics, the Tekno MT410 2.0 has its limitations. It doesn’t have as much space for super huge Power Systems. I remember running a hobbywing Max 10 4S capable ESC and a hobbywing Max 10 sensored motor, and it fits just fine, but there’s not a lot of extra air, if you know what I mean. The truck measures 36×65, so you might be able to fit a 36×68 or 70, but any larger than that and you’ll have to trim down the ESC plate that holds on the ESC. Supportwise, they do have a really good warranty on parts. You can send in parts and get 50% off replacements. So, if you’re breaking a couple of parts here and there, it might not be super cost-effective, but if you have a large amount of damage, it might be worth it. In terms of support, I would rate it three stars.
Durability and Maintenance
When it comes to durability and maintenance, the Tekno MT410 2.0 performs quite well. The warranty is good, and repair and maintenance are also pretty good. The truck can handle some rough play and still hold up well. However, compared to the big boys in the 1/10 scale, its durability might be below average. There aren’t too many 4S capable basher kits in this size, which makes it a bit strange. The Stampede 4×4 kit is available, but it’s not really a competitor to the Tekno MT410 2.0. The truck is priced at $430, which is worth considering when looking at its durability and maintenance.
