Yikong TB7 First Look

Yikong TB7 First Look

h2: Independent Front Suspension with Solid Rear Axle

The Yikong TB7 is an impressive desert buggy that features an independent front suspension and a solid rear axle. This design ensures excellent off-road performance and durability. While it may look similar to other models in the market, it stands out with its unique body design and sturdy build.

h2: A Closer Look at the TB7

The TB7, which is short for Yikong TB7, is not the first version of this truck from the renowned manufacturer. Yong Yong previously released the DF7 and the DF7 V2, which had more of a trophy truck style body. However, the TB7 takes the desert truck concept to a whole new level.

h2: Unveiling the TB7

After eagerly waiting for about a month and a half, I finally received my TB7 from AliExpress. The truck arrived without any decals on the body, requiring me to apply them myself. The kit came with a large sticker sheet for this purpose, and I spent some time carefully applying them prior to making this video.

h2: What’s in the Box?

In addition to the TB7 itself, the package includes a set of instructions on how to apply the decals. You will also find an instruction manual that not only provides troubleshooting tips but also features 3D renderings of the truck for a better understanding of its components. Furthermore, the manual guides you on how to maintain the shock oil and differential oils, ensuring optimal performance.

h2: Additional Accessories

The back of the instruction manual lists some essential parts for the buggy, allowing you to easily find and replace any components in case of damage. Moreover, the TB7 comes with servo horns, plastic bits, rod ends, and a tie, offering added convenience and value for money.
In conclusion, the Yikong TB7 is an exceptional desert buggy that guarantees a thrilling off-road experience. With its independent front suspension, solid rear axle, and durable construction, this truck is built to overcome tough terrains with ease. While it requires some effort to apply the decals, the kit comes with detailed instructions and valuable tips to ensure a flawless finish. Whether you’re an experienced RC enthusiast or a novice looking to delve into the world of remote-controlled vehicles, the TB7 is definitely worth considering for your next adventure.

Yikong TB7: A Closer Look

When it comes to the Yikong TB7, it’s clear that they have considered every detail. From the extra pieces that come with it to the impressive controller, this desert racer truly stands out in the market.

Extra Pieces

Upon opening the package, you’ll find some additional accessories that enhance the overall experience. Included are Allen wrenches, a T-wrench, and a wheel wrench. These tools will come in handy during assembly and maintenance.

The Yong Controller

The TB7 comes with a Dumbo RC controller, which has gained popularity among enthusiasts. Its ergonomic design ensures a comfortable grip, making it easy to maneuver. The controller boasts five channels: one for steering, two for the throttle, and channels three and four. Additionally, there are multiple controls on the control panel, such as steering trim, throttle trim, steering dual rate, and throttle dual rate. The presence of dip switches adds to the versatility of this controller.

The Design

Now, let’s talk about the design of the Yikong TB7. This desert racer is undeniably stunning and, in my opinion, the best-looking one on the market. Its sleek and aggressive appearance immediately commands attention.

What sets the TB7 apart is the thoughtful inclusion of body pins. There are two sets of body pins – one at the top and another at the bottom – both conveniently tethered to the truck. This design choice allows for effortless lifting of the body, revealing the entire truck for easy maintenance and customization.

The Yikong TB7 is not just a beauty to behold, but it also offers practicality and convenience. Whether you’re a seasoned RC enthusiast or a beginner, this desert racer is worth considering.

The Design

The Yikong TB7 certainly catches the eye with its striking design. Taking inspiration from the popular Ford Bronco desert truck, this unlicensed version replicates the iconic look that many companies have attempted to imitate. Despite not being an official version, Yikong has managed to successfully capture the essence of the original design.

Features

Equipped with front bumper lights and additional lights on the shell, the Yikong TB7 is guaranteed to illuminate any path. But the design is not the only impressive aspect of this RC truck. Inside, you’ll find a driver and navigator, adding a touch of realism to your off-road adventures. And let’s not forget the spare tire mounted on the back, further enhancing the truck’s authenticity.

Tire and Wheel Setup

One interesting feature of the Yikong TB7 is its tire and wheel setup. The tires are mounted on 17 mm hexes and feature a stub axle, similar to what we’ve seen on the UDR. Behind the stub axle, you’ll find a 17 mm hex and a disc brake mounted on its back side. The tires themselves feel firm, reminiscent of the FTX dr8 with its sturdy tread. The sidewalls, while not overly soft, do provide some flex. It will be intriguing to see how these tires perform in various terrains.

Performance

While simply examining the design and features of the Yikong TB7 is exciting, the true test lies in its performance. How will this RC truck handle the challenges of your favorite off-road terrain? Will it live up to its visually appealing appearance? Only time and testing will provide the answers we seek. But based on initial impressions, the Yikong TB7 seems promising.

The Design and Construction of the Yikong TB7

The Yikong TB7 is an impressive RC truck that demands attention with its sleek design and sturdy construction. From the first look, it is clear that this truck is built for off-roading adventures and is not your average RC vehicle.

The Roll Cage and Body Mounting

One notable feature of the Yikong TB7 is the complete roll cage underneath the shell. This roll cage not only adds an extra layer of protection but also acts as the main support for the truck’s body. Unlike other RC trucks that rely on hinges to keep the body intact, the TB7 uses body pins for secure mounting.

To remove the body, you will need to detach the sway bars and limiter straps, in addition to disengaging the lights. This ensures that the body remains firmly attached to the truck even during intense off-roading sessions.

Firm Bumper and Shock Tower

Moving from the front to the back of the truck, you’ll notice a sturdy bumper with excellent support. The rigidity of the bumper gives an indication of the TB7’s durability and ability to withstand impacts. However, it is important to note that the TB7 is not built for monster truck-like bashing but is designed specifically for desert racing.

The TB7 features a composite shock tower, which some enthusiasts may prefer to be made of metal for added strength. Nevertheless, considering the intended use of the truck, this composite shock tower is more than capable of handling the demands of desert racing.

Dual Shocks and Suspension

The front of the Yikong TB7 is equipped with dual shocks that provide enhanced stability during off-road maneuvers. These shocks appear to be some form of progressive shocks and are made of aluminum, ensuring both durability and optimal performance. The shocks can be adjusted using aluminum shock caps, allowing for fine-tuning according to personal preference.

The TB7 also features CVD type drive shafts in the front, further enhancing the truck’s overall stability and control. The lower suspension arms measure approximately 12 mm, which may raise concerns for some due to their thin appearance. However, further examination is required to determine their strength and reliability.

In conclusion, the Yikong TB7 offers a remarkable first look with its attention-grabbing design and robust construction. While certain aspects, such as the choice of materials, may raise questions, it is crucial to consider the intended use of the truck. The TB7 is built to conquer the desert terrain rather than engage in heavy-duty bashing. Its impressive features, including the roll cage, firm bumper, and dual shocks, make it a promising RC truck for off-roading enthusiasts.

Chassis and Drive Shafts

The Yikong TB7 has some impressive features when it comes to its chassis and drive shafts. The drive shafts measure about 4 mm in thickness, providing a sturdy and durable component for the vehicle. The upper chassis brace and lower chassis are both made of 3 mm thick metal, ensuring the overall strength and rigidity of the TB7. Additionally, there are three cross bracing bars on the back side of the vehicle, each measuring approximately 6 mm in thickness. While these bars may appear solid, it is possible that they are hollow, providing a good balance of strength and weight reduction.

Front Suspension

Moving on to the front of the TB7, there are some noteworthy features to mention. Firstly, there is a sway bar present, which helps to stabilize the vehicle during cornering and reduce body roll. Furthermore, there are camber adjustments available, allowing for fine-tuning of the front suspension geometry. The use of mod one gears provides reliable and efficient power transmission to the front wheels. The drive shaft connecting the front differential to the center differential measures approximately 4 mm in thickness, showcasing its robustness.

Rear Suspension

The TB7 also boasts a strong rear suspension system. The upper links, measuring about 6 mm in thickness, contribute to the overall stability and durability of the vehicle. The trailing arms at the rear are beefy, providing ample strength to handle off-road terrains. Just like the front, the rear suspension features a two-shock system, with the same shock bodies as the ones in the front. This allows for consistent and adjustable dampening across the entire vehicle. Additionally, a sway bar is integrated into the rear suspension setup, further enhancing stability and reducing body roll.

The Rear

Looking at the rear of the Yikong TB7, we find some interesting features. The electronics inside this beast resemble a Max 8 system. With a powerful 1600 KV motor, a 150 amp ESC, and a 25 kg servo, it definitely has some strength behind it. However, I can’t help but wonder if the servo might be a little sluggish for this truck. On the front, there is a servo saver, although I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get a good angle of it. It’s tucked in neatly, right in front of the truck, beside the power switch for the desert buggy.

Accessibility and Storage

One thing I appreciate about the Yikong TB7 is its accessibility. The battery tray is of good size, accommodating various battery packs. Personally, I use Power Hobby 4000 Mah 6X packs, which fit perfectly with their 120c rating. However, the battery tray also has extra space that can be utilized by removing the foam spacer. This means you can have even more battery power if needed. The receiver box is conveniently tucked in just above the battery tray, making it easily accessible.

Lock Differentials

For those of you considering getting the Yikong TB7, you might be wondering if it has lock differentials. Well, let me give you a view of what it looks like. Unfortunately, there are no lock differentials in the front. In fact, nothing is locked in place. It might be worth considering making the front a bit thicker for better performance. As for the rear, it has seal differentials, allowing for tuning as needed. This gives you the flexibility to adjust the diffs as you see fit, providing a more customized experience.

Futuristic Design

The Yikong TB7 is a visually captivating drone that pushes the boundaries of modern design. Its sleek and futuristic appearance immediately catches the eye, making it stand out from the crowd. The combination of sharp edges, smooth curves, and a matte black finish gives it a sense of sophistication that is hard to ignore. Every detail has been meticulously crafted to create a visually stunning device that not only performs exceptionally but also looks incredible while doing so.

Advanced Technology

Beneath the surface, the Yikong TB7 boasts a range of advanced technologies that truly set it apart from its competitors. Equipped with intelligent flight control, it delivers a stable and precise flying experience. Whether you’re a seasoned drone pilot or a beginner, the TB7’s user-friendly interface makes it easy to navigate through its various flight modes and features.

Furthermore, the TB7 incorporates cutting-edge obstacle avoidance sensors, ensuring a safe and obstacle-free flight. With the ability to detect objects in its flight path and autonomously adjust its course, you can fly with confidence, knowing that the TB7 is actively working to prevent any potential collisions.

Additionally, the drone comes equipped with a high-resolution camera capable of capturing breathtaking aerial footage. Whether you’re capturing stunning landscapes or recording action-packed moments, the TB7’s camera delivers superior image quality and clarity. With real-time FPV (First Person View), you can immerse yourself in the drone’s perspective, experiencing the thrill of flying from the comfort of your own device.

Exceptional Performance

Not only does the Yikong TB7 excel in terms of design and technology, but it also delivers exceptional performance. Powered by a high-capacity battery, the TB7 offers an impressive flight time of up to 30 minutes. This extended flight duration allows you to explore and capture the world from above without worrying about battery life limitations.

In addition to its remarkable flight time, the TB7 is equipped with brushless motors that provide enhanced stability and maneuverability. Whether you’re flying in calm or windy conditions, the drone’s powerful motors ensure a smooth and controlled flight, allowing you to capture clear and steady footage every time.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Yikong TB7 offers a visually appealing design inspired by the Ford Bronco desert truck. With its impressive features and attention to detail, it aims to provide a realistic off-road experience.
