Kyosho Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro – Unboxing the new RC scale basher KB10L!

The Unboxing

Today, we have the exciting opportunity to unbox the highly anticipated Kyosho Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro RC scale basher KB10L. This new release from Kyosho has been generating quite a buzz among RC enthusiasts, and we are eager to see what it has to offer.

First Impressions

As we open the box, we are immediately struck by the stunning graphics that adorn the packaging. Kyosho has gone all out to create an attractive presentation for this 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro. The mouthful of a name gives us an idea of the level of detail we can expect from this model.

The Chassis

Upon closer inspection, we discover that the KB10L utilizes the same chassis as the previously released Madwagon. Having already unboxed one of those, we are familiar with its features. However, this version stands out due to its long wheelbase, which adds to the scale realism of the car.

Incredible Scale Detail

One aspect that immediately catches our attention is the level of scale detail on this RC model. The tiny TRD Pro badges are a nice touch, adding a touch of authenticity. The life-like buckets further enhance the realistic appearance. Kyosho has definitely gone the extra mile to ensure that every detail is accurate and true to the full-size Tacoma TRD Pro.

A Missing Element

Despite the remarkable attention to scale realism, one noticeable omission is the absence of body posts and body clips sticking out of the top. This is a departure from what we see in other RC cars, such as the Traxxas Slash. Traxxas employs clipless body mounts, but they sacrifice some scale realism in the process.

Kyosho’s Approach

Kyosho has taken a different approach with the Tacoma TRD Pro. They have chosen to keep the body posts on the body itself, rather than having them protrude outward. While this may seem like a small detail, it makes a significant difference in maintaining the scale realism of the model. By avoiding the presence of a large clip sticking out the back, Kyosho has preserved the sleek and authentic look of the Tacoma.

In conclusion, the Kyosho Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro RC scale basher KB10L is a remarkable addition to the RC world. With its attention to scale detail and refusal to compromise on authenticity, this model is sure to delight RC enthusiasts and fans of the Tacoma TRD Pro alike. Whether you are a collector or a basher, this RC truck is bound to impress.

Innovative Body Mounting System

Take this thing off, I’ll show you what I mean. Like so, check it out. So we actually got these mounts on the body itself, like the things that usually be on shock towers or something. On the chassis are now on the body shell, and that’s genius. I love it. If we can see this on the phaser sometime soon, that would be amazing.

The Impressive Chassis

Let’s take a look at the chassis. Here, this is what I was talking about. This is kind of the where your holes in the body shell would be, these are the other half of the body mounting system. Down here at the front and the back, it also has the traditional locations for a body shell, with standup posts and foam on the top to support the body for inevitable rollovers.

As for the rest of the chassis, it is a long wheelbase version of the KB10L, same chassis that’s on the madwagon. This one is noticeably longer. It is also narrower, which will be good for strength. The other cool thing about this KB10L chassis is that it has a center diff in there somewhere. We’ll have to see how that impacts the drive and stability, as I’m not usually a fan of center differentials on cars. But you know, this one might be cool, and I’m sure a lot of people will love those there.

Adjustable Turn Buckles for Optimal Performance

In the Kyosho Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, we are delighted to find adjustable turn buckles in both the front and rear. These turn buckles allow us to fine-tune the camber and front toe in, just like on the renowned madwagon. This feature provides us with the opportunity to optimize the RC car’s performance to suit our driving style and track conditions.

Powerful Components for a Thrilling Drive

Equipped with a 9 kg Servo receiver in a well-designed receiver box, the Kyosho Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro ensures seamless and responsive control over the vehicle. It boasts a 3668 size, 2850 KV motor that promises robust speed and acceleration. Additionally, the 80 amp Kyosho brains ESC can handle both 2s and 3s LiPo batteries, offering versatility in power options. While it may be only 80 amps, the burst current of 520 amps ensures that this RC car packs a mighty punch.

A Strong and Durable Chassis

One look at the Kyosho Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro’s chassis, and it becomes evident that it was built to withstand extreme bashing. The chassis features a plastic spine that spans across the top, providing essential support to the lower aluminum chassis plate. This combination ensures durability and helps the RC car handle rough terrains with ease.

Compatible with Popular Wheels and Tires

The Kyosho Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro is equipped with 2.2 3.0 wheels, which are similar to those found on the Slash and other short course trucks. This compatibility opens up a wide range of aftermarket options for wheels and tires, allowing enthusiasts to customize their RC car to their desired specifications.

Suitable Battery Options for Off-Road Excursions

With a 2s or 3s LiPo battery tray, the Kyosho Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro offers flexibility in power choices. While the battery tray may not accommodate the largest batteries, it can comfortably fit a hard case 2s or a soft case 3s battery, or a smaller hard case 3s battery. In off-road situations like this, opting for a hard case battery ensures an additional layer of protection, furthering our vehicle’s resilience.

Thrilling Speeds and Speed Testing

The packaging of the Kyosho Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro proudly states that it can reach speeds of up to 75 km/h. We cannot wait to put this claim to the test and see just how fast this RC car can go. A speed test is definitely on the cards for this basher, as we anticipate an exhilarating experience. We should also mention that the motor wires of this RC car are neatly routed, enhancing the overall aesthetics of the model.

With the Kyosho Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, we have a high-performance RC car that offers customizable gameplay options, durability, and thrilling speed potential. Whether you are a seasoned enthusiast or a novice in the world of RC vehicles, this scale basher is sure to provide hours of entertainment and excitement.

Visual Appeal and Design

The Kyosho Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro is undeniably cool in its appearance. With its sleek body and intricate details, it almost looks like the real thing. The inclusion of small aluminum parts, such as on the steering, adds a tasteful touch to the overall design. While the car does feature plastic shock bodies, which might raise concerns for some, it is important to note that the quality of the plastic used will determine its durability. Given Kyosho’s reputation, it is likely that they have chosen a plastic that is up to the task.

Putting the Body On

One can’t help but admire the car even more when the body is put back on. It instantly transforms the vehicle, making it look even cooler. The ease of putting the body on adds to the overall enjoyment of the unboxing experience. However, there is a bittersweet feeling knowing that the body will eventually be demolished during the car’s bash sessions. Perhaps, against all odds, the body will survive the rigorous bashing it is bound to encounter. Only time will tell.

Impressions Out of the Box

Upon initial inspection, the Kyosho Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro delivers an astonishing visual impact. Its rugged and durable appearance gives off a sense of toughness. The thought and attention to detail put into the design are clearly evident. It is evident that this product is well-made and carefully crafted, making it a promising addition to the RC car market. The estimated retail price of around 770 Australian dollars positions it alongside competitors like the Losi Baja Ray tenacity TT and the FXL two-wheel drive, which range from 700 to 800 dollars. However, the Kyosho TRD Pro offers a unique difference being a scale model of a real road-going car, rather than a purpose-built race car.

The Perfect Balance of Scale and Speed

One remarkable aspect of the Kyosho Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro is its ability to strike a perfect balance between scale realism and speed. While other RC cars in a similar price range tend to focus solely on scale details, such as crawlers, the TRD Pro offers the best of both worlds. It manages to replicate the look of a full-sized truck while still being fast and powerful. This unique combination makes it a clear winner in terms of versatility and appeal.

In conclusion, the Kyosho Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro is a visually stunning and well-crafted RC car that stands out from other models in its price range. Its attention to detail, realistic scale design, and impressive speed make it a highly desirable product. Whether you’re a fan of scale realism or in need of a speedy basher, the TRD Pro offers the perfect blend of both. Get ready to unleash its power and enjoy the thrilling RC car experience it has to offer.
