Design and Features

The new Redcat Everest Ascent RC Crawler offers a performance-based experience at an affordable price. Priced under 300 dollars, it is an exciting option for enthusiasts seeking a high-quality RC Crawler without breaking the bank.

Impressive Specifications

Redcat Racing has outdone themselves with this model. The Everest Ascent showcases a range of cool features that are commonly found in trucks that cost twice as much. One notable feature is the newly designed low center of gravity chassis, which enhances stability and maneuverability.

Enhanced Performance

The Everest Ascent is equipped with optional 10, 20 underdrive gearing, ensuring smooth and controlled movements. Its internal and external spring shocks provide excellent suspension, allowing the crawler to tackle rough terrains with ease. Furthermore, the portal axles significantly improve ground clearance, making it ideal for various off-road adventures.

Flexible Battery Placement

One of the standout features of the Everest Ascent is its multiple options for battery placement. This means that users can choose the most suitable location, depending on their preferences or the specific requirements of their chosen terrain. This level of customization truly sets it apart from other models.

Putting It to the Test

To gauge its performance, we decided to take the Everest Ascent out for a spin. During our first run, it exhibited remarkable capabilities, impressing us right from the start. However, like any true adventure, there were spills and tumbles along the way. Despite this, the crawler handled itself admirably, proving its durability and resilience.

Value for Money

In a world where prices seem to be skyrocketing, finding a high-quality RC Crawler at an affordable price can be a challenge. The Redcat Everest Ascent breaks this trend, offering enthusiasts an excellent option without compromising on performance. Its features, durability, and customizable battery placement make it truly worth the investment.

Design and Options

So it’s really great to see Redcat coming out with a really affordable option for the RC Crawler Market. That’s going to make this really accessible for a lot of people, really great to see. This truck comes in two different options: the red body style, which is the single piece body that goes for $289.99, as well as the blue body option, which is a two-piece body. You can remove the bed if you want slightly cropped in the front and rear as well. That goes for $292.99.

Impressive Look

I really like the look of this truck. It’s super squat, either lcg or low center of gravity chassis, is a completely new platform. Seems like a lot of thought and care went into the design of this truck. This is going to be a 12.3-in wheelbase, very comparative to options out there like some of the tix4s and the scx 103, but this truck seems to sit a little bit lower to the ground than some. Some of those were also going to get high clearance portal axles. These are actually the Gen 9 axles, so really great that some of the aftermarket parts from Trio and others are going to fit onto these already. So great to see aftermarket support there.

Attention to Detail

They did a matte finish on the truck bed. Here you get a sticker decal for this little storage compartment. It doesn’t open, though, for the front, we have a sticker design front grill, and I learned from one of my Instagram followers that this is actually the Kaiju body that’s on one of the Redcat Bashers that’s been used as a crawler body for a while now. So there are actually 3D printed parts available for this body, which is very cool. There are 3D printed Grills and some hood vents. We’re going to have to print some of these out. It’s really great that you can see through our windows. They have a little bit of tint here, though, kind of hides your internals, all the wires and stuff. Also great for folks that want to do a scale, interior or add a scale driver.

The Design: Aesthetically Pleasing and Convenient

One of the standout features of the NEW Redcat Everest Ascent is its impressive design. The plastic used for the front and rear bumpers is a real standout. Not only does it add to the overall durability of the vehicle, but it also gives it a sleek and streamlined look. The high clearance is also worth mentioning, as it allows the Everest Ascent to navigate rough terrains with ease.
Taking off the body of the Everest Ascent is an absolute breeze. Thanks to its hinge design, the body swings up effortlessly, just like a clamshell. Additionally, there are two body clips at the rear that help secure the body in place. If you need to remove the body completely, all you have to do is snap it off the front. It’s as simple as that. A major advantage of this design is that it comes with little pads to ensure that the body doesn’t scrape off your paint. This attention to detail is a nice touch and adds convenience to the overall experience.

Impressive Tires and Wheels

The Redcat Everest Ascent comes equipped with 1.9-size, deep treaded tires. While not a scale license tire, they do feature an aggressive tread pattern, making them ideal for off-road adventures. These tires also have vents, providing better traction and stability on different surfaces. It’s worth noting that the tires are glued on and not beadlock tires. However, the white rims they come with look quite decent. Of course, if black is more your style, you can always opt to paint them. But here’s an interesting detail – Redcat also includes a set of red and blue faux beadlock rings. This allows you to add an accent color to your beadlock ring, giving you the opportunity to personalize your Everest Ascent even further.

The Perfect Work Stands for Redcat Enthusiasts

In addition to the impressive features of the Redcat Everest Ascent, there are other cool accessories worth mentioning. Traxxas offers aluminum rotating work stands that are perfect for the Everest Ascent. Available in two different sizes – 1/8th and 1/10th scale – these stands are not only sturdy but also convenient. They also make an X-Truck stand for the larger models like the X-Maxx. The ability to rotate and lock the stands in various positions adds versatility to your work sessions, making maintenance and repairs much easier.

Truck Features: Is it Really That Good?

The NEW Redcat Everest Ascent is making waves in the RC Crawler world, but is it really that good? Let’s take a closer look at its features and performance to find out!

Lock it into Position: A Cool Feature

One standout feature of this truck is its ability to be easily locked into position. As you work on it, you can effortlessly move the truck around and then lock it into place. This feature provides convenience and stability when making adjustments or modifications to the vehicle. It’s definitely a cool feature that sets it apart from other RC Crawlers on the market.

Underdrive Option: Enhanced Performance

Another impressive feature of the Redcat Everest Ascent is the availability of an underdrive option. This feature allows you to swap out the gears in the transmission, enabling your rear wheels to spin at a slower speed than the front wheels. The result? When crawling over challenging terrains and obstacles, the front wheels can dig in and provide enhanced traction and control.

Ease of Swap: Work on it with Ease

One thing that sets this RC Crawler apart is its ease of use and maintenance. Redcat has designed the Everest Ascent to be super easy to work on and swap out gears. By simply removing a few screws, you can easily access the transmission box and replace the gears. This user-friendly design makes it a convenient option for both beginners and experienced RC enthusiasts.

Powerful Servo: More Torque, Better Performance

The Metal Gear, waterproof Servo that comes with the Redcat Everest Ascent is a standout component. With an impressive 35 kg of torque right out of the box, this RC Crawler is equipped with a powerful and reliable Servo that can handle demanding terrains and obstacles. Additionally, the aluminum Servo horn adds durability and stability to the overall performance of the vehicle.

Servo Winch Compatibility: Ready for More

If you’re looking to enhance your RC Crawler with a Servo winch, the Redcat Everest Ascent has you covered. There’s a slot available to mount a Servo winch, giving you the flexibility to add even more functionality and versatility to the truck. However, keep in mind that you may need to relocate the ESC to accommodate the winch, but the option is there if you need it.

Powerful Internal Becc

The NEW Redcat Everest Ascent comes equipped with a 7.4 volt internal becc, which is a higher voltage than what is typically seen in other ready-to-run trucks. This means that the truck’s electronics will be powered at a higher voltage, providing a boost in performance. The becc also features a nice little metal heat sink on the exterior, ensuring that the truck stays cool even during intense usage. However, it is worth noting that the truck uses a Dean connector, which might require users to either use an adapter or solder on an xt60 connector if they prefer the latter.

Impressive Motor Setup

The motor setup of the Redcat Everest Ascent is definitely worth mentioning. It features a 550 size, 42 turn brush motor, providing ample power for off-road adventures. What’s interesting is that the motor is front mounted and seated quite low on the chassis, which helps to keep the weight down low and maintain a low center of gravity. This design choice ensures better stability and handling, especially on rough terrains. Additionally, the truck comes with a gold pinion gear, which adds a touch of visual appeal.

Exposed SP Gear

One aspect of the Redcat Everest Ascent that some users may not be too thrilled about is the exposed SP gear. While it is not a major issue, this design choice does leave the gear vulnerable to dirt, rocks, and other debris that may get kicked up during off-road sessions. It is important for users to regularly check and clean the gear to prevent any wear and tear. Nonetheless, with proper maintenance, this should not pose a significant problem.

Complete Radio Receiver System

The Redcat Everest Ascent comes with a 4-channel radio receiver system right out of the box, specifically the RTX 4C or 4 Channel radio system. This allows for precise control over the motor and steering. The system also includes endpoint adjustments for all the channels, giving users the ability to fine-tune their driving experience. Notably, the truck provides two spare channels for additional accessories, such as a winch or lighting, offering users the flexibility to customize their truck according to their preferences.

In conclusion, the NEW Redcat Everest Ascent offers a range of impressive features that contribute to its overall performance and versatility. With its powerful internal becc, robust motor setup, and complete radio receiver system, this truck is certainly a formidable choice for off-road enthusiasts. However, it is important to keep an eye on the exposed SP gear and ensure proper maintenance to prevent any potential wear and tear.

The Hidden Storage Compartment

There is an interesting feature that comes with the NEW Redcat Everest Ascent – a little hidden storage compartment. This compartment provides you with the option to hide some tools, which can come in handy during your adventures. It’s a neat little addition, like a wrench tucked away in a secret spot.

The Receiver Placement

One thing to note about the Redcat Everest Ascent is the placement of the four-channel receiver. It is just floating out in the middle of nowhere, without any protection or receiver box. As a result, it’s important to be aware that this receiver is not waterproof. However, the good news is that the rest of the electronics are waterproof, ensuring their durability in different situations.

Waterproof Coating

If you’re concerned about the lack of waterproofing for the receiver, there is a solution – a waterproof coating. This cow formal waterproof coating can do the job, similar to applying nail polish. By generously coating all the exposed metal parts, you can add a layer of protection to ensure water resistance. It’s a simple yet effective solution to address the potential vulnerability of the receiver.

Modular Battery Placement

The Redcat Everest Ascent offers a modular battery placement feature. You can mount your battery at the back of the truck in a designated tray. Additionally, you have the flexibility to move the sides of the tray to different positions. This means that if you have a shorty pack or if you prefer running saddle packs on the side, you can adjust the straps accordingly and run two batteries on the side. It’s a versatile feature that allows you to customize your setup according to your battery preferences.

Durable Chassis Rails

Take a look at the chassis rails of the Redcat Everest Ascent – they are built to be incredibly sturdy. Made from 3mm thick hardened steel, these chassis rails ensure that your truck remains super stiff and can handle rough terrains with ease. The robust construction provides a sense of reliability and durability, promising a long-lasting performance.

Shock Towers

Just like the chassis rails, the shock towers of the Redcat Everest Ascent are made from the same 3mm thick steel material. This consistency in construction adds to the overall strength of the truck. It’s worth noting that these shock towers are not made of aluminum, as they share the same material as the chassis rails. The truck’s suspension design incorporates various shock mounting positions, allowing for different shock tuning options. It’s an interesting feature that enables you to fine-tune the suspension according to your preferences.

In conclusion, the NEW Redcat Everest Ascent offers some unique features and design elements that set it apart from other RC trucks in the market. From the hidden storage compartment to the modular battery placement, the truck provides versatility and customization options. Additionally, the durable chassis rails and shock towers ensure a robust and powerful performance. While there may be some concerns about the receiver’s waterproofing, the availability of a waterproof coating offers a solution. Overall, the Redcat Everest Ascent is indeed a remarkable RC truck worth considering for your adventures.

Aluminum Body Shock with Dual Spring System

The new Redcat Everest Ascent comes equipped with an aluminum bodied shock that ensures durability and stability. What’s interesting is that it also features a dual spring system – an exterior spring and an internal spring. This unique feature allows you to remove the internal spring if desired. The manufacturer recommends keeping it in for stock usage to evaluate its performance. Despite not having a significant amount of downward travel, the inclusion of the internal spring helps keep the weight of the truck down.

Impressive Rear Shock Placement

When examining the rear of the truck, it becomes evident that Low has really gone all out with the shock placement. With a substantial amount of attention to detail, the rear shock design stands out. This careful positioning ensures maximum efficiency and performance during your off-road adventures.

High Clearance and Solid Chassis

Moving on to the bottom of the truck, users will appreciate the high clearance and sturdy metal links. The flat skid plate prevents the truck from getting stuck on any obstacles, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted ride. However, it’s worth mentioning that the truck features plastic drive shafts. Despite this, the overall chassis retains its robustness and reliability.

Thoughtful Design without Inner Fenders

One characteristic that may catch the eye is the absence of inner fenders. Although some may be disappointed by this, the manufacturers justify this decision by explaining that it helps keep the truck’s weight low and maintains a low center of gravity. While this may be a matter of personal preference, it doesn’t detract from the overall design and functionality of the truck.

Accessibility and Ease of Maintenance

One aspect that stands out about the Redcat Everest Ascent is its user-friendliness. The design of the chassis is simple yet well-thought-out, with careful consideration given to the placement of every component. This makes it incredibly easy to work on and access various parts of the truck for maintenance or upgrades. Whether you are a seasoned RC enthusiast or a newcomer, this truck promises a hassle-free experience.

Enhancing the Truck with Lights

Before taking this impressive truck out on the road, it’s worth considering some upgrades to enhance its appearance and functionality. Mitri RC offers lights that can be easily installed on the Redcat Everest Ascent. Whether it’s rock lights or accent lighting, these additions will undoubtedly elevate your RC experience. While the author awaits 3D-printed grills to install some of these lights, starting with the rock lights and accent lighting can provide an exciting boost to the truck’s overall aesthetics.

In conclusion, the new Redcat Everest Ascent is a vehicle that holds great potential. With its dual spring system, impressive rear shock placement, high clearance, and solid chassis design, it exudes reliability and performance. While the absence of inner fenders may raise questions for some, the thoughtfulness behind the overall construction and easy accessibility make it an excellent choice for beginners and experienced RC enthusiasts alike. Paired with optional upgrades like lights from Mitri RC, the Redcat Everest Ascent is set to deliver an exhilarating off-road experience.

The NEW Redcat Everest Ascent: A Closer Look at its Lighting Features

Let’s delve into the intriguing features of the NEW Redcat Everest Ascent and explore its lighting capabilities. Redcat has always been known for producing exceptional remote-controlled trucks, and the Everest Ascent is no exception. With an array of innovative lighting options, this truck promises an exciting and immersive off-road adventure.

Dragon Controller: Unparalleled Brightness and Versatility

The highlight of the Redcat Everest Ascent is undoubtedly its Dragon Controller, a tricked-out accessory that enhances the truck’s illumination system. Although this controller is currently unavailable, Redcat is set to relaunch it in the coming months. The Dragon Controller boasts four high-powered LED ports, allowing you to effortlessly install incredibly bright LEDs on your truck. These lights serve both aesthetic and functional purposes, ensuring a clear view of the trail even in pitch-dark conditions.

A Diverse Range of Lighting Options

To further enhance your off-road experience, Redcat offers a wide selection of lighting options. From white strip lights to yellow wafer lights for illuminating the truck’s interior, there’s no shortage of choices. Additionally, the inclusion of rock lights provides a rugged and stylish touch. Not to mention the intriguing red Flex LEDs, which create a mesmerizing solid light effect by utilizing numerous individual tiny LEDs. These lights are available in various colors, allowing you to customize your truck’s appearance according to your preference.

Creative Customization with 3D Printing

For those seeking a unique touch, Redcat provides the opportunity to 3D print a custom grill to hold the Flex LEDs securely in place. This enables you to design a one-of-a-kind lighting setup that perfectly complements the truck’s overall aesthetic. The Everest Ascent’s body comes with a simple sticker, allowing you to transform its appearance with the addition of these custom lights and accessories.

Seamless Control at Your Fingertips

Controlling the truck’s lighting system becomes a breeze with the integrated lighting controller. This controller can be easily operated from a spare channel on your transmitter. With a simple click of a button, you can turn the lights on and off or cycle through different lighting modes. This feature ensures convenient and effortless control over the illumination, adding an extra layer of immersion to your off-road adventures.

Overall, the NEW Redcat Everest Ascent truly raises the bar when it comes to remote-controlled trucks. Its remarkable lighting features, coupled with their upcoming Dragon Controller, promise an unparalleled experience on and off the trail. Whether you’re a seasoned hobbyist or a newbie in the RC world, this truck is sure to impress with its brilliant lighting capabilities and customizable options.

Installation and Design

I just used a little double sided sticky tape to stick the lights in place where I wanted them, the rock Lights under each of the fenders and then the wafer lights. On the top of the hood, I use zip ties to organize all the cables and the dragon controller is powered off of the balance lead from our battery. Everything looks super clean. We’re going to have to hold off on the flex and the wafer lights until we 3D print our Kaiju Grill, so stay tuned for that in a future Music video.

Performance on Trails

So, all in all, what do I think of the red cat Everest ascent? Actually, I only got to do a short trail run with it. With the low center of gravity, the truck feels super planted. The first feature I went over with this was this really steep log and it actually did really great. Our Servo super fast running on 7.4 volts. I tried both 2s and 3s lipos and it felt a little bit dead on 2s power. So I’d definitely say that this is a 3s crawler for sure. Our suspension felt a little bit stiff going over some of the features. I feel like maybe that could be to tuned a little bit better.

Body Rub and Modifications

I did still get some body rub with our tires rubbing on the fender. I think you could even crop the body even more than it already is cropped. That’s super easy, though, to take some scissors to the lexand body trim away some of the fenders. I feel like I need more time with it and some rockier terrain to really put it to the test.

The Forest Terrain

The forest in my area consists mostly of loose gravel and dirt, lacking in steep rocky features. This type of terrain may not be ideal for testing the capabilities of the NEW Redcat Everest Ascent.

Excellent Performance

Priced at just $289.99 for the red version, the Redcat Everest Ascent seems like a great deal. Despite the less-than-ideal testing ground, I believe that this truck is still worth every penny.

Unwavering Quality

One thing is for certain – the Redcat Everest Ascent is a solid and reliable crawler. It performs exceptionally well, showcasing the quality and craftsmanship put into its design.

A Big Thank You

I would like to express my gratitude to Red Cat Racing for providing me with this truck to test on my channel. I am excited to share my next video, especially after trying out the Redcat Everest Ascent.

Upcoming Adventures

Stay tuned as I take this crawler on new adventures. Next stop, Texas! I look forward to documenting my experiences and sharing them with you all.
