Arrma | Outcast 8s EXB RTR | Unboxing!

New Features

Arrma has just released their latest model, the Outcast 8s EXB RTR, and I must say, I am truly excited about it. This 1/8th scale, four-wheel drive monster truck is built for extreme bashing. Right out of the box, you’ll find upgraded parts and electronics, making it perfect for hardcore bashers like myself. The truck is also equipped with AVC (active vehicle control), which is similar to Traxxas’ TSM.

Unboxing Time!

Now, let’s not waste any more time and dive straight into the unboxing of this impressive machine. As I open up the box, I can see that there is some assembly required, but nothing too difficult. We’ll just need to attach the wheels by removing the wheel nuts and installing the tires. It’s a simple task and won’t take much time.

Next, I come across the transmitter box. It’s always exciting to see the radio system that comes with the truck. But what caught my attention the most are the tires. These tires are massive! I’ve already experienced the excellent performance of the tires on the Outcast 4S, and I can’t wait to see how they handle off-road with this beast of a truck.

After removing the tires, I find some stickers and an instruction book. It’s great that they provide everything needed to get started, including four AA batteries. There’s also a parts box, which seems to be just for protecting the truck during shipping. I’ll set that aside for now.

Unveiling the Beast

Now, it’s time to cut the zip ties and take the truck out of the box. And there she is, guys! Just look at this beauty in all her glory. The Arrma Outcast 8s EXB RTR is an absolute stunner. The design is sleek and aggressive, with a rugged construction that is sure to withstand the most intense bashing sessions.

The attention to detail is impressive, from the high-quality paint job to the intricate body design. It’s clear that Arrma has put a lot of thought into this truck, considering all the features and upgrades it offers.

This truck looks sick

I’m really liking the color scheme on the body with the black and red. It looks pretty dope, and the black shiny accents add a nice touch. The front grill and bumper give this truck a mean and intimidating look. It’s like it’s ready to cause some trouble out on the ramp. I’m really liking it, guys. This truck is sick.

Tires that grip the terrain

Let’s take a closer look at the tires. These are the Deboot Back Flips, the big block edition. They are much bigger than the tires on the 4S Outcast. I actually really like these tires because they don’t balloon as much and provide great grip on any terrain. You get excellent handling with these tires, and I’m a fan of them.

Extra protection for the body

Now, let’s focus on the body of the truck. You can see that it has roof skid plates for extra protection whether you’re off the ramp or on the road. These plates prevent any little road rash on the top of the roof. I appreciate that attention to detail. But check out the massive wing in the back, guys. This thing is huge! It adds a cool factor to the overall look of the truck. And hey, there’s also a willie bar in the back. Nice touch.

Durable and well-designed

Looking closer, we can see that there are heavy-duty body clips for added security. No worries about them snapping or breaking easily. And there’s this plastic piece that looks like it’s there to prevent tearing a hole in the body, maybe during a crash or something similar. It adds that extra layer of durability where the body posts stick out. Overall, the design of this truck is well thought out and built to last.

Chassis and Powertrain

Taking a closer look under the hood of the Arrma Outcast 8s EXB RTR, we can see that this beast of a truck is equipped with some serious power. The Spectrum 1100 KV brushless motor comes with a heat sinking fan to ensure optimal performance. Paired with the firm V2 160 amp ESC, this truck is capable of handling 6s and 8s batteries, although I highly recommend using 8s for maximum power.

Battery and Electronics

Arrma has made sure to provide ample space for batteries with two EC5 connectors. Each side of the truck is equipped with a spacious battery tray, allowing you to swap out batteries quickly and easily during your high-intensity bashing sessions. With this setup, you can expect extended runtime and unrestricted power delivery.

Durable Construction

One thing that immediately stands out is the robust construction of the Outcast 8s EXB RTR. The arms have been beefed up to withstand the harshest of conditions, and the adjustable links are made from thick, durable material. The aluminum threaded body shocks with a 6 mm shock shaft and upgraded rod ends ensure smooth suspension action and improved durability.

Enhanced Protection

Arrma has clearly prioritized durability with the inclusion of a firm and durable front bumper, thick beefed-up shock towers, and front and rear metal drive shafts. To further protect vital components, the truck features a center brace and chassis brace that fortify the body. The metal center shaft ensures reliable power transfer to the wheels even under extreme bashing.

Steering and Control

The Spectrum waterproof steering servo boasts an impressive 820 oz of torque at 8.4 volts, ensuring precise control even in the most demanding situations. Whether you’re crawling, jumping, or racing, this servo can handle it all. Additionally, the aluminum chassis adds to the overall durability of the truck, allowing you to unleash your full potential without worrying about damaging the chassis.

Radio

Taking a closer look at the radio included in the Arma Outcast 8s EXB RTR kit, we have the Spectrum DX3. This radio features convenient features such as steering and throttle reverse switches, a throttle limit switch with three options (50, 75, and 100), and a power button. On the side of the radio, there are additional controls including the ABC rate, brake rate, steering trim, and throttle trim. One notable feature of this radio is the battery telemetry, which allows you to monitor the battery level while running the truck. Overall, the radio feels comfortable in hand and has a good range, further enhancing the user experience.

High-Quality Tools

In addition to the impressive radio, the Arma Outcast 8s EXB RTR kit also includes some high-quality tools. A standout tool is the wheel wrench, which is made of metal and features anodized finishing. This attention to detail sets this kit apart from others in the market. Furthermore, you’ll receive an Arma turnbuckle wrench, a high-speed pinion (32), and various spare cards, Allen keys, and other essentials. The inclusion of these tools ensures that you have everything you need for maintenance and adjustments, making the overall package even more appealing.
