As you can see, I am in the midst of giving this truck a complete overhaul. From the livery to the tires, I’m revamping everything. However, the most significant upgrade I’ve made so far is the installation of a front axle made entirely of aluminum. This fifth-scale servo-controlled motor is massive and is responsible for controlling the steering horn, which is connected to another servo-controlled steering horn placed in the middle of the truck.

To incorporate this upgrade, I had to purchase a complete assembly to replace the back of the truck. Okay, the protection plate is on for the steering, that top screw is so important. Over time, I’ve learned that it needs to be tightened at all times. Everything seems to be good to go. You might be wondering, why didn’t I open it up to grease the differential and everything? Well, it’s because I was being lazy. I know there’s plenty of grease in here; I’ve had these machines for years. Yes, it will need more in the future, but I didn’t feel the need to do it right now.

The Fresh Rubber

You know I love this one, but I’ve had it for a few years and I think it’s time for an update. But you know what, there’s one thing I’d like to see right now: yeah baby, one, two, three, four. Now you’ll see, let’s make it into a quad daily, which I have already. I’ve got videos on that, but check out these tires. These tires are getting well worn. The edges are rubbing down. They just kind of wear down over time and from time to time it’s nice to have some fresh rubber.

The Excitement of Red Beadlocks

But check this out. I ordered some red beadlocks for it. Aluminum bead locks, fresh tires, oh mama. It was at the moment he put the tires on that he realized he had forgotten a major part of what had to happen. He had to flip the differential around and he totally forgot. He had to crack into that, so just so that everybody understands what’s happened here. He didn’t open up this differential housing and take the differential and flip it to the other side.

A Major Mistake

So what’s happening is he’s sending power to the transfer case here. It’s getting transferred out, but one side is going in one direction and one side is going in the other because this was made to go in the front, not in the back. And he should know better, so important to do. Tighten up screws on the differential, flip the differential around in the front axle to be rear.

Steering the axle must do this with brand new tires and rims. It’s easy for laziness to creep in and make mistakes. In the excitement of installing fresh rubber and new beadlocks, the crucial step of flipping the differential around in the front axle to be rear was overlooked.
