The Most Realistic RC Rock Racer
You can’t miss this. It’s not 18 scale, it’s not another trailfinder, and it’s not another gande 2 or galand or Gand. However you want to call it, here it is – the Miller Motorsports Pro Rock racer. This might be the most realistic ready-to-run Rock racer we’ve ever seen, and I know there’s not too many of those. But this thing has a shifting two-speed transmission. You could also shift it from two-wheel-drive to four-wheel-drive. You can lock out the axles, it’s got limiting straps on the axles, a full cage, an incredibly realistic-looking engine, and tons of licensing, including the Miller Motorsports licensing. Let’s get this thing out of the music box.
An Attention to Detail
That suspension seems pretty soft, but first, let’s check out the body and all the scale details. RC four-wheel drive did it up right. They have a reputation for creating very scale vehicles, and in order to do that here, they teamed up with Miller Motorsports – a very well-known Rock racer that has a ton of accomplishments – and they replicated his Rock racer with all of the sponsor graphics that he has.
Check out the bodywork, it looks just like his rig. There’s a molded slot of grill up front with a fair lead. Headlights which are transparent, looks like you can add LED lights later, but I like the red around the bezels. Then there’s the hood panel, which is held on with four screws, and I’ve got one little problem to point out here. They just didn’t give us enough extra plastic around some of these screws, and a piece of my body has already broken off before I’ve even run.
The Exterior
This RC rock racer from RC4WD, known as the Miller Motorsports Pro RTR, has an incredibly realistic exterior. From the front, you can see the separate panels on the sides, all painted in a bold yellow color to mimic a real rock racer. What sets it apart are the huge decals that showcase all the sponsors of the racer. These decals not only add a touch of color but also highlight the attention to detail that RC4WD has put into this model. On top of all that, there is a roof plate proudly displaying the Miller Motorsports logo, further enhancing its authenticity.
Battery Access Made Easy
One of the interesting features of this RC rock racer is how you can access the battery. On the other side of the vehicle, there are two body clips that, once removed, allow you to easily slide in your battery pack. Although it may take a moment to figure out, once you do, it becomes a convenient and hassle-free process. RC4WD has clearly thought about the practicality of this model, making it easy for users to swap out batteries and continue their racing adventure.
Incredible Fuel Cell Outback
The attention to detail in this RC rock racer doesn’t stop at its exterior. The fuel cell outback showcases intricate details that add to its realism. With lines running all over the place and shut-off valves, it truly captures the essence of a real rock racer. The red bezel around the fuel filler not only adds a pop of color but also draws attention to this important component. Additionally, the fuel tubing connected to the fuel cell further adds to the authenticity. To top it off, the fuel cell houses the receiver and servos for extra functionality, proving that RC4WD has taken realism to the next level.
Detailed Interior
Just like the exterior, the interior of this RC rock racer is filled with incredible detail. From the detailed dashboard to the upper control panel, every element has been meticulously crafted. The seats, shifters, pedals, and even the steering wheel all contribute to the lifelike experience. One notable feature is the little navigation screen on the passenger side, which can move around and twist. The side mirrors can fold over as well, adding to the overall functionality and authenticity. It truly feels like stepping into a real rock racer when exploring the interior of this RC4WD model.
A Scale Appearance Like No Other
While many RC rock racers strive for realism, the RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR takes it to a whole new level. With its attention to detail both inside and out, it stands out among other models in terms of scale appearance. From the marker lights and tail lights on the exterior to the radiator fans and intricate engine details, this rock racer is truly over the top in terms of authenticity. Whether you’re a rock racing enthusiast or simply someone who appreciates meticulous craftsmanship, this RC4WD model is sure to impress with its realistic design.
The Chassis and Suspension
Now let’s delve into the impressive chassis and suspension of the RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR. Unlike other rock racers that utilize aluminum or molded chassis plates, this RC4WD model stands out with its complete cage framework setup. Every component, from the front bumper to the cage, is a tube-style frame, showcasing the meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to scale realism. RC four-wheel drive has truly outdone themselves with this design.
The suspension on this rock racer is truly remarkable. Its realistic appearance is bound to impress any enthusiast. However, I must admit that I have a minor concern about it, which I’ll share with you shortly. First, let’s focus on the links. In both the front and rear, it features a four-link setup with metal links equipped with composite ball ends and metal pivot balls. The rear suspension, on the other hand, incorporates a trailing arm setup, with the shock mounts ingeniously placed inside the trailing arm. Additionally, RC4WD has included sway bars on both the front and rear to enhance handling during high-speed maneuvers on rough terrain. Furthermore, they’ve incorporated limiting straps to prevent the suspension from overextending while driving hard off-road.
The Shocks
The shocks of the RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR are as impressive as the rest of its features. Sporting an aluminum body, they have a narrow profile, lending them an ultra-scale appearance. A dual spring setup is employed here, with a lighter spring at the top and a firmer spring as the main spring. This arrangement ensures a well-balanced suspension performance, providing both responsiveness and stability when tackling challenging obstacles.
The Drivetrain
Moving on to the drivetrain, RC4WD has left no stone unturned in achieving unparalleled realism. The Miller Motorsports Pro RTR features a realistic four-wheel drive system, allowing each wheel to receive power independently. This design clearly demonstrates the company’s commitment to delivering an authentic and immersive RC experience. Complementing this, RC4WD has equipped the rock racer with realistic, scale-like tires, ensuring maximum traction on various surfaces, be it rocks, dirt, or sand.
The Electronics
To ensure optimal performance, RC4WD has thoughtfully included high-quality electronics in the Miller Motorsports Pro RTR. The rock racer is equipped with a waterproof brushed motor, which not only provides ample power but also allows you to enjoy off-roading adventures in any weather condition. Additionally, it comes with a waterproof electronic speed controller (ESC), granting you precise control over the vehicle’s speed. Furthermore, RC4WD has included a high-torque steering servo, enhancing the rock racer’s maneuverability and responsiveness.
Pistons and O rings: A Light and Potentially Buckety Ride
Inside the RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR, there are pistons and O rings that provide the mechanical power for this incredible machine. However, it seems that the factory has only filled it with a couple of drops of oil, making it feel surprisingly light. I can’t help but wonder how it will handle when pushed to its limits. Will it hold up, or will it start to struggle with frequent stops and starts?
Unbelievably Realistic Features
One of the standout features of this RC rock racer is the stunningly realistic transmission. Looking like a genuine transmission from a full-sized vehicle, it is truly a sight to behold. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if many people would want this transmission for their other RC builds. It adds an authentic touch that sets it apart from other models on the market.
The Heart of the Beast: The Brushless Motor
Nestled inside the front of this rock racer is a brushless motor system that provides the power needed for an exhilarating ride. While I will go into more detail about this in a moment, it is worth noting that the engine features pulleys, a rubber O ring for a belt, an alternator, headers, and a spark plug. Every detail has been carefully considered to give it an authentic and impressive appearance. It’s no wonder that so many people have a strong desire to witness the engine in action.
A Peek into the Gearbox
Moving further into the mechanics, the motor connects to a planetary-style setup, as detailed in the instruction manual. From there, it goes down to the transmission itself, which houses a series of gears. Interestingly, you can shift the transmission from two-wheel drive to four-wheel drive, providing versatility for different terrains and driving styles. Additionally, the RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR boasts a two-speed transmission system, allowing for even more control. All of these gear shifts are controlled effortlessly by your transmitter, thanks to the servos and cables that are ingeniously placed at the back.
Driving Realism to the Max
Overall, the RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR brings a new level of realism to the world of RC rock racing. From its meticulously designed transmission to its powerful brushless motor, every aspect of this vehicle has been carefully considered to provide an unparalleled experience. Whether you choose to drive it with the hood on or off, the attention to detail is truly remarkable.
As I prepare to take this incredible machine out on the track, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and curiosity. Will it live up to the expectations set by its impressive features? Will it handle like a dream or encounter some rough patches? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for certain: the RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR is set to revolutionize the world of RC rock racing.
The Gear System
The RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR boasts a gear system that sets it apart from other RC rock racers on the market. With the ability to shift from low gear to high gear, this rock racer offers a wide range of options for speed and control. Upon closer inspection of the vehicle, it is evident that the low gear provides a slow crawl, perfect for navigating difficult terrains, while the high gear offers impressive speed.
Quality Components
One feature that stands out about this rock racer is its attention to detail in terms of its components. The presence of ball bearings suggests a durable and smooth performance. It can be assumed that the inclusion of metal gears further enhances the longevity and reliability of this RC vehicle.
A Realistic Experience
Working on this RC rock racer feels uncannily similar to working on a real car. While it was not possible to completely disassemble the entire setup, the process of taking it apart to demonstrate some of its inner workings was an arduous task. This speaks to the intricacies and complexities of the design, which mimics that of a real vehicle.
Key Features
The RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR incorporates several key features that contribute to its realistic appearance and performance. A transfer case allows for seamless shifting between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, enhancing versatility on various terrains. Additionally, the presence of steel slider drive shafts, both to the rear and front axles, ensures durability and stability during intense off-roading activities.
Impressive Axles
The axles of this rock racer are truly a sight to behold. Sporting a robust and muscular appearance, they exude a sense of strength and reliability. The front axle is equipped with a brace, while the rear axle features a center-mounted pumpkin and an offset setup in the front. These design elements not only enhance the overall aesthetic but also contribute to the authenticity and realism of this RC vehicle.
Rocking the RC World: RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR
I was telling you guys about the impressive features of the RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR, and now let’s dive deeper into its incredible construction and design.
Exploring the Unique Axles
The first thing that caught my attention was the realistic look of the axles. With a cable connecting to the differential case, you can easily shift the differential inside. This feature allows you to either lock it out for better cornering or open it up for a different driving experience. However, I did notice a small concern – the absence of locking nuts on the screws. I hope the pressure fit will prevent those nuts from backing out, but it’s something worth keeping an eye on.
Impressive Axle Bump Stops
Moving on to the chassis, I couldn’t help but admire the axle bump stops. These little gems add another layer of realism to the overall design. The bump stops feature a spring inside, which provides excellent dampening, making it feel incredibly lifelike. It’s a small detail that shows the dedication of the RC4WD team to deliver a superior rock racing experience.
Attention to Detail: The Wheels
Now let’s talk about the wheels. The front axles come with steel universals, enhancing durability and performance. But what really caught my eye is the addition of a fake brake disc and brake caliper. This attention to detail takes the scale look of the RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR to a whole new level. It’s exciting to see a brand go the extra mile to achieve an authentic appearance.
Unlicensed Tire, But Still Impressive
Taking a closer look, you’ll notice that the wheels themselves feature a method style design. Although the tire lacks the official Knle license, RC4WD has still managed to create a Jd model tire that looks incredibly cool. Not only does it have a soft composition with a foam insert for optimal performance, but it also boasts the iconic Becks branding.
In conclusion, the RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR is a rock racer that stands out from the crowd. With its innovative features, attention to detail, and realistic design, it offers enthusiasts an unbeatable RC experience. So buckle up, hit the trails, and let this remarkable RC vehicle take you on a thrilling adventure.
The Wheels
The RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR comes equipped with wheels that have a unique design. These wheels have a center cap on the outside, which adds a nice touch to the overall appearance. However, there is a bit of a downside to these wheels. They are secured in place by eight little lock nuts, which need to be removed in order to access the 7 mm Loch nut. This can be a bit of a hassle if you don’t have the right tool for the job.
The Radio System
The radio system used in this RC rock racer is the Dumbo RC radio, which is a multiple channel system. This allows for precise control of the vehicle during your off-road adventures. The package also includes the Twister Servo for the steering, which provides smooth and responsive handling. Additionally, the RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR comes with a metal Servo arm and metal steering links, ensuring durability even in the most demanding terrains.
The Power System
One of the standout features of this RC rock racer is its power system. The RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR is equipped with a brushless system, which offers efficient and powerful performance. The speed controller, known as the WP10 BL60, is waterproof, making it suitable for all weather conditions. The motor, a sensorless 3650 1200 KV motor, is housed in an eye-catching orange can. Its performance capabilities are sure to impress any RC enthusiast.
The Fuel Cell and Controls
Within the RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR, you will find the fuel cell, which houses the receiver and three micro servos that control the various functions of the vehicle. This layout allows for a neat and organized interior, with easy access to the essential components. It is worth mentioning that this RC rock racer requires a 2 or 3s LiPo battery and charger, as well as a suitable location to fully enjoy its capabilities.
Additional Features
The RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR comes with a set of alternate decals, giving you the option to personalize the look of your rock racer. This attention to detail is a nice touch, as it allows for a unique and customized appearance. Whether you prefer a clean and sleek design or a more rugged and aggressive look, this RC rock racer has got you covered.
Feel free to share your thoughts on this impressive RC vehicle in the comments section below. Let us know what your favorite feature is and how you would enjoy taking it out for a spin. Although this rock racer may not be designed specifically for extreme rock racing, it is still a thrill to take any RC off-road rig for a fun-filled adventure.
The Transmission Ratio and Control
The RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR rock racer certainly impresses with its low gear transmission ratio. This allows for a slow and controlled crawl, giving you the ultimate precision in maneuvering. The controlled speed truly allows you to navigate any obstacle with ease.
The Versatile Tires
One of the standout features of this rock racer is the tires. Not only are they soft and comfortable, but they also boast excellent grip. Whether you’re racing on rock terrains or challenging dirt tracks, these tires will provide you with the stability and traction needed to conquer any path. They truly enhance the overall performance of this vehicle.
The Realistic Suspension
As you observe the rock racer, you’ll notice the realistic suspension, which adds to its authenticity. The suspension system may initially appear lacking in oil, but don’t let that deceive you. It actually works incredibly well, delivering a smooth and realistic driving experience. However, it’s important to note that there is a minor issue with the rear axle bump stops, which I’ll address later in the article.
Responsive Steering
The RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR offers an ample amount of steering capability. The only downside is that you’ll need to adjust the Dual Rate setting to 100 for optimal steering performance. The factory setting is at 75, but increasing it to 100 will provide you with a wicked spot to take this rock racer for a spin. The level of control and precision you can achieve with the increased Dual Rate is truly impressive.
A Challenging yet Fun Experience
Driving the RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR is not for the faint of heart. It requires a certain level of skill and patience to master this beast of a machine. The wide range of functionality and options available make it an exciting and engaging experience for enthusiasts. In the beginning, it may seem a little daunting, but once you begin to get the hang of it, the fun factor increases exponentially.
The Thrilling Realism of the RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR
The RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR is like no other RC rock racer out there. As soon as you unleash its power, you can feel the adrenaline coursing through your veins. But be careful, because this beast has a mind of its own. It will sway back and forth, and before you know it, it might even roll over on you.
Unlocking the Diffs: Finding Your Rhythm
To truly master the RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR, you need to familiarize yourself with its different functions. You can’t just jump in and expect smooth sailing. Take the time to unlock the differentials for different situations. Use the low or high gears and get your rhythm down. Only then will you truly experience the thrill and realism this beast has to offer.
Practice Makes Perfect
Driving the RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR is an ongoing learning process. During my time with it, I’ve learned the importance of practice. Take some time to really understand the functionalities of this machine before taking it out for a spin. By developing muscle memory and mastering its every aspect, you can save yourself from unnecessary wear and tear. And trust me, once you’ve got the hang of it, you’ll have a blast. This rig is incredibly capable on rocky terrain and can handle the dirt like a pro.
Dealing with Drag Break
One thing I noticed during my countless hours with this RC rock racer is its massive drag break. It’s a feature that can be both a blessing and a curse. To maintain control, I recommend dialing it down depending on your personal style. If you let off the throttle too suddenly, you’ll find yourself facing forward flips or uncontrollable sideways drifts that can easily lead to a roll-over disaster. So, practice, practice, practice! Get a feel for the drag break and learn how to use it to your advantage.
In conclusion, the RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR is a force to be reckoned with. Its unrivaled realism and thrilling performance make it stand out from the crowd. But remember, mastering this beast requires patience, skill, and plenty of practice. So, unlock those diffs, find your rhythm, and get ready for an unforgettable RC rock racing experience.
Issues with the Rear Dampers
One of the issues that I encountered with the RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR is the rear dampers, or as I like to call them, the rear Bump Stop dampers. I’m not entirely sure if that’s the correct term, but let’s go with it for now. The dampers have a small cap on the bottom that serves the purpose of protecting the shaft from digging into the axle when it’s compressed. However, these caps have a tendency to fall off easily.
Before I even took this rock racer out on the trails, I noticed that the caps were not securely attached. They were only press-fit on, which meant that they were bound to fall off sooner or later. I believe that RC4WD should have threaded the bottoms of the dampers and the caps to ensure a more secure fit. Without proper attachment, they become a nuisance, as they tend to fall off during your RC adventures. To prevent this, you’ll need to use some thread lock on the two nuts that hold them in place and make sure they are tightened down properly.
Soft Suspension and Chassis Roll
Another issue that I came across is the soft suspension. Although the suspension looks incredibly realistic and cool, it tends to be too soft, especially when you’re in a high-speed situation. This results in a lot of chassis roll, which can affect the stability and control of the rock racer. In low-speed situations, the soft suspension adds to the authenticity of the driving experience.
However, many RC enthusiasts will have the desire to push this rock racer to its limits and enjoy some fast-paced action. To address this, I believe that using a slightly heavier shock oil would greatly improve the handling and reduce the excessive chassis roll. This modification would allow for a more stable and enjoyable high-speed driving experience.
Falling Fake Engine Filter
On a more cosmetic note, one issue I faced was with the filter on the fake engine. It simply fell off during one of my RC sessions. It’s not a major problem, but it’s something to be aware of. You might want to consider gluing the filter in place to avoid losing it during your trail adventures. Alternatively, if you prefer not to glue it, make sure you keep an eye out for it and quickly retrieve it if it happens to detach.
Concerns
Lastly, the only thing that truly concerns me about this RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR is yet to be revealed. It’s something that is bothering me, making me wonder what surprises may lie ahead. I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation mixed with a tinge of worry. Will this rock racer live up to my expectations? Will it meet the demands of the most passionate RC enthusiasts out there? Only time will tell, and I am eagerly waiting to find out.
In conclusion, the RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR is an impressive rock racer with its realistic design and capabilities. However, it does have a few areas for improvement, such as the rear dampers, soft suspension, and falling fake engine filter. These issues can be addressed with some modifications and precautions. Despite these concerns, I am hopeful that this rock racer will deliver an exhilarating and realistic RC experience for enthusiasts around the world.
Locker Arm Design
The first thing to note about the RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR is the design of its locker arm. Positioned low at the bottom of the axles, this component seems vulnerable to damage. Already, it looks like it’s getting chewed up, especially in the rear. It would have been ideal if the whole mechanism was clocked differently, with the lever on top to prevent such issues.
Potential Concerns
With the intense rock racing this RC rock racer is meant for, it’s important to be cautious. The rear part of the vehicle is particularly susceptible to damage. As you rip through rocks and other obstacles, there’s a high possibility that it might get caught. Therefore, it would be wise to have a spare part on hand in case any untoward incident occurs.
Impressive Engineering
Despite the concerns mentioned, it’s important to recognize the incredible job done by RC4WD in designing this RC rock racer. The attention to detail and the overall build of the vehicle is commendable. The precision and realism infused into its design make it a standout in the market.
A Potential Revival
The world of rock racing has seen a decrease in hype and popularity in recent times. However, the RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR has the potential to bring back some excitement to this community. This incredible machine offers a lot of fun and thrill to those who are still passionate about rock racing. It provides an opportunity for enthusiasts to reignite their love for this unique form of racing.
In conclusion, the RC4WD Miller Motorsports Pro RTR is a remarkable RC rock racer that showcases impressive engineering and attention to detail. While there are some concerns regarding certain design elements, such as the vulnerable locker arm position, overall, this vehicle has the potential to breathe new life into the rock racing community. So, get ready to experience the excitement and thrill of this realistic RC rock racer!
