This RC Car Gave Us Some Trouble…

The Surprise Snap

I definitely recommend picking one of these up for your kids foreign faux pas there. Yes, Luca drove this directly into a fence, but I’ve got to be honest. Didn’t drive it in there that hard, which surprised me of that it seems to have completely snapped to four-millimeter thick shock shaft. That’s what it’s supposed to look like, and that’s what it does look like all right, so it’s like the threaded end. So, it’s got, it snapped off right there Luca.

A Disappointing Experience

What do we think about the Udi Power 120? Whatever it is, right? Well, I’ve got to be honest. That was a bit disappointing as a beginner. I do like to have my remote control car Drive. I now want to see what it can do. Oh, it can’t. It’s falling into pieces. Well, could we Nick could we could we Nick another one of these from another? One lets just do that. We could just put some other shocks on it. God, where are we going to find shocks in this bag? Yeah, we could just put another shot.

A Quick Fix

I mean, oh, hello, someone bought something. Oh, that’s good. Was that you? No, it’s usually you slightly too long, but they’ll do it for now, right? So, we’re gonna give this a run, see how we go. We can switch the crazy lights on and off with the switch, so it’s got a job. It says it’s ESB, but it’s basically a gyro because it is up the more you get a straighter track.

The Faulty Shock Absorber

When we first ran this RC car, we immediately noticed a problem with the front shock absorber. It seemed to be faulty and not functioning properly. This was a surprise considering the quality of the shocks on this car. The standard shocks were made of aluminum with adjustable tension, and they should have been able to handle the impact that Luca, one of our testers, put it through. However, upon closer inspection, we found that the front shock absorber had stress fractures and was broken. This was not expected and left us perplexed.

Aftermarket Shocks as a Solution

To rectify this issue, we decided to replace the faulty shock absorber with aftermarket ones. These aftermarket shocks were Chinese-made and cost around $20 per pair. Visually, they looked quite similar to the original shocks, but they lacked some of the features. Nevertheless, we were hopeful that they would do the job.

A Second Test Run

Equipped with the new aftermarket shocks, we took the RC car out for another run. We wanted to see if the replacement shocks could handle the stress and impact better than the original ones. The run started off smoothly, with the car handling well on different terrains.

However, as we pushed the car further, we encountered some trouble. The car began to slide down the road on its roof, causing some minor damage. Despite this setback, we were still optimistic that the replacement shocks would prove to be an improvement.

Unanswered Questions and More Tests

The unexpected behavior of the RC car left us with unanswered questions. Why did the original shock absorber fail so easily? And why did the replacement shocks not fully solve the problem? These questions lingered in our minds as we continued to analyze and test the car.

We decided to conduct more tests and evaluations to get to the bottom of this issue. With further investigation, we discovered that the replacement shocks, although similar in appearance, were slightly longer than the original ones. This difference in length may have affected the overall performance of the car.

The Enigma of the RC Car

In conclusion, this RC car has proven to be quite a mystery. From the faulty shock absorber to the replacement shocks that didn’t quite fit right, we have encountered our fair share of troubles. However, we remain determined to find a solution and uncover the secrets behind this perplexing RC car. The journey continues as we delve deeper into the enigma of this RC car, striving to unlock its full potential.

Improved Performance and Handling

After some initial trouble with the shocks, we managed to make some modifications to the RC car that greatly improved its overall performance. Surprisingly, this car turned out to be much better than we initially expected. We were a bit apprehensive at first, but once we made the necessary changes, the difference was unreal.

Extra Clearance for Enhanced Experience

One of the modifications we made was to add extra clearance to the car. This not only made it look neater, but it also had a significant impact on its performance. The extra clearance allowed the car to navigate through different terrains without any difficulty. It was a pleasant surprise, and we were quite pleased with the results.

Inexpensive and Effective Modification

The modification we made to the RC car was surprisingly inexpensive but had impressive results. Considering the minimal cost involved, the impact on the car’s overall performance was remarkable. We were able to achieve better handling and improved speed without breaking the bank.

A Great Car for Beginners

Even though we faced some initial trouble, we believe that this RC car is an excellent choice for beginners. It is designed with light features, making it suitable for kids and first-time users. The all-in-one configuration of the ESC and receiver simplifies the control, ensuring a smooth and user-friendly experience.

Considerations for Safety

While experimenting with different batteries, we noticed that the car’s motor and ESC can generate considerable heat. This raised some concerns, especially regarding the safety of children handling the car. It is essential to be cautious and avoid touching these components when they are hot. It is also recommended to use cooling fans to prevent overheating.

Choosing the Right Battery

The car comes with a standard 2000 milliamp hour 7.4 volt lithium-ion battery. However, we decided to switch to a 2s lipo battery with the same voltage but a higher punch rating. This modification resulted in increased power and speed. However, it is crucial to note that the car still heats up, indicating that the chassis can handle the extra power.

Impressive Handling and Durability

Despite putting the car through its paces, throwing it around and testing its limits, we were impressed by its ability to handle the rough treatment. The chassis proved to be strong and durable, allowing us to drive the car with confidence. It definitely surpassed our expectations in terms of performance and overall handling.

In conclusion, this RC car initially presented some challenges but ultimately proved to be a great choice. With a few modifications and considerations for safety, it offers an impressive performance for both beginners and experienced users. Its durability, handling, and overall value make it a worthwhile investment. So, if you’re looking for a reliable and enjoyable RC car, this is definitely one to consider.

Modifiability and Weak Points

When it comes to this RC car, it seems to hold up well to modifications. In fact, it may even be suitable for those who want to tinker with it a bit. However, this raises the question of what the next weak point may be. While the shocks on this car are quite sturdy, one can expect that the metal gears might eventually pose a problem. The car also boasts metal CV drive shafts all the way around, which significantly enhances its durability. However, if there’s one area that could potentially break, it would be the shock towers, as they are made of plastic. Nevertheless, for a plastic component, it’s impressive how well they withstand the pressures of the RC car’s performance.

Potential for Modifications

If you’re considering getting this RC car for your kids’ birthday or Christmas present, it’s worth noting that it’s highly modifiable. Easily upgrading to a better battery or motor is a breeze. However, based on what you’ve seen in our demonstration, it’s questionable whether such modifications are necessary. Nevertheless, it’s always good to have the option to enhance the car’s performance, should you desire to do so.

What’s Next

Our next video will feature a competitor to this RC car. We’ll be showcasing the mjx hyper and comparing it to the one we’ve just discussed. If you’re curious about how the two vehicles measure up against each other, be sure to tune in. We’ll see you in that video!
