The FTX Vantage: Paying Homage to the Humble Beginnings

The Start of Something New

Recently, we have put out a few videos featuring the car that started the channel, the FTX Vantage. There have been a few comments, basically saying “what are you doing that? Why are you bothering doing that?”

The Point of It All

The point of it all is to pay homage to the humble beginnings of the FTX Fighters, as we head towards the upcoming GP this year. We had four or five of them just kicking around in a box, and I thought it would be nice to do a build video on this to see if with a few little bits here and there, would it make a good racer?

The Transformation

A lot of little bits went into the transformation of the FTX Vantage, and it is now unrecognizable from its original form. The shock towers, shocks, and other bits are all different.

The End Result

The end result is a car that is ready to take on the GP, and a reminder of where it all started for us. The FTX Vantage is a testament to the humble beginnings of the FTX Fighters, and a reminder of what can be achieved with a few little bits here and there.

Rochester RC Fusion Exceed 3.5 Ton Brushless Motor Combo

Powerful Performance

Rochester RC sent us the Fusion Exceed 3.5 Ton Brushless Motor Combo, and it is ridiculously powerful. After putting it in the car, it was clear that it was way over geared. To remedy this, a 15 tooth pinion gear was used. The ESC was then set to half power, with the end point adjust turned down to 50. Surprisingly, this worked well and the car was able to reach rapid speeds.

Impressive Results

At the popular GP, it was clear that the Fusion Exceed 3.5 Ton Brushless Motor Combo was a hit. It was able to reach impressive speeds and handle the track with ease. It is clear that this is a great combo for those looking for a powerful and reliable motor.

Affordable Price

The best part about the Fusion Exceed 3.5 Ton Brushless Motor Combo is that it is an affordable option. It is a great choice for those looking for a powerful motor without breaking the bank.

Rock Solid ESC Combo for Cheap Mo

Impressive Performance

I was really impressed with the performance of the cheap Mo ESC combo. It was rock solid and had oodles of power that I never needed to use. Even when I turned it up to 100, it was hilarious. We did that at the practice section and it basically sorted itself. It wheelied down a straight somersault and nearly taught itself.

Different Tires

It is worth noting that the weather conditions were changing throughout the day and everyone was jumping between different tires.

Stock Tires and Wheels Proved to be the Winning Formula

Running Stock Tires and Wheels

The driver was running stock tires and wheels, seven pounds a pair, and stock shocks. He was impressed with how well the car performed, and the only thing that let him down was that he put all the blingy upgrades on it, but the screws still came out.

Qualifying Third

He qualified third in the fourth round, and was smashing it until the screw came out. Initially, this was going to be a project that he was going to finish at the pop along GP, but he had fallen in love with the car. It was going up against some seriously good cars, including a couple of X-ray cars.

The Winning Formula

It turns out that the stock tires and wheels proved to be the winning formula. The driver was able to get into fourth place, and was loving it. Even though he was up against some serious competition, the stock tires and wheels proved to be the winning combination.

From Budget Racing to High Performance: How I Fell in Love with My Car Again

Qualifying for the Final

I couldn’t believe it when I qualified for the final of the popular GP. I had only expected to race it and then put it on the shelf and forget about it. But as I got closer to the race, I started to fall in love with my car again.

Tire Trees and Handling

The handling of the car was a bit of a handful. Tire trees had to wrestle with it to keep it on track. This was partly due to the power coming through the wheels. It was drifting around some of the turns.

Upgrading the Car

To get the most out of my car, I decided to upgrade it. I got some better shocks with a metal chamber, rather than the plastic chamber that came with the car. I also got a bigger wing to improve stability.

The Final Race

The final race was a great success. I was able to make the most of my upgraded car and I was able to finish in the top 10. It was a great feeling to know that I had taken my car from a budget racer to a high performance machine.

Racing an FTX Advantage at a Club

The FTX Advantage is a popular RC car, but is it suitable for racing at a club? The answer is yes, but there are some considerations to make. The FTX Advantage comes in two versions: the 2.0, which is a brushed version, and the brushless version. If you want to go racing, you need to get the brushless version.

Jumping

If you’re going to be jumping, the FTX Advantage is not the best car to use. It’s worth upgrading the front end plate to the alloy front plate, as this is one of the weak points of the stock plastic chassis.

Gear Ratios

When experimenting with gear ratios for the FTX Advantage, it’s worth investing in an upgraded spur gear. This can be purchased from a company based in the UK called RW Racing.

Weve got the the the alloy shocks, which are a bit more adjustable than the plastic ones.

Advantage Racing: The Journey Continues

The Plastic Top Chassis

When it comes to Advantage Racing, the journey doesn’t end with the original Vantage. While the plastic top chassis is still the essence of the TJ1, there is an option for a carbon fiber chassis. However, the cost of this upgrade may not be worth it for some racers.

Upgrading the Suspension

For those looking to upgrade their Advantage Racing car, the alloy suspension arms and shocks are a great option. These are more adjustable than the plastic ones, and can help racers get the most out of their car.

Thanks to RW Racing

Finally, a shout out to RW Racing for getting the necessary parts to racers quickly. Thanks to them, racers can get the parts they need to keep their Advantage Racing cars running at peak performance.

Racing with Bling: Is it Necessary?

The Basics

Do you need to add bling to your race car? Absolutely not. Racing is about speed and performance, not about looking nice. However, it can be nice to have a bit of bling on your car.

The Upgrades

When you upgrade your car, you should consider getting bigger shocks and a bigger wing. This will give you more downforce, which will help you go faster.

Indoor vs Outdoor Racing

If you plan on racing on an indoor carpet track, you may not get the same performance as you would on a grass track. Grass tracks allow for more give with the gearboxes, which can be beneficial.

Can You Make a Radio Control Car Track Ready?

Taking it Apart

Taking apart a radio control car can be a daunting task, but it can be done. It involves taking apart the car and putting some Tamia grease in the parts. It also has a weird peanut bar stuff in it, which is unknown what it is.

Making it Track Ready

Making the car track ready involves putting grippy wheels on it and throwing it around a carpet track. It might be a bit of trouble, but it can be done. If the carpet track isn’t feeling right, then the Hemel radio control car club can be a compromise. It was the club that was around when the good old days were talked about.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the cheap Mo ESC combo is a great option for anyone looking for a reliable and powerful ESC combo. It is rock solid and has plenty of power. It is also worth noting that the weather conditions can affect the performance of the ESC combo, so it is important to be prepared with different tires.

My experience with my car has taught me that with the right upgrades and a bit of love, you can take any car from budget racing to high performance. I’m now looking forward to the next race and seeing what my car can do.

In conclusion, the FTX Advantage is suitable for racing at a club, but it’s important to make sure the car is properly upgraded to ensure a successful race.

In conclusion, bling is not necessary for racing. However, it can be nice to have a bit of bling on your car. Upgrading your car with bigger shocks and a bigger wing can help you go faster. Finally, if you plan on racing on an indoor carpet track, you may not get the same performance as you would on a grass track.
