Rolling and Exeter Racing went and found four amazing builders and gave them each an Axial Base Camp and a budget at HorizonHobby.com to pick up some accessories and gave them one mission: to build a really cool rig that will help inspire you to build your own custom truck.
Kevin’s C10 Build
Kevin’s C10 build has plenty of details and accessories. The Proline C10 body is painted with a unique design, and it also has the Proline interior. The Mickey Thompson Baja Pro X tires are wrapped around Rock Shooter wheels, and Kevin even added spiked lug nuts.
The Challenge
The challenge is to show the hard work and modifications that the builders made to these trucks. At the end, a winner will be chosen. Plus, there is a sweepstakes for those who stick around to the end.

The Ultimate Adventure Truck
The Build
This truck is a masterpiece of craftsmanship. It has been built off of the Axial Cam donor truck, and features a number of 3D printed parts, including the vent plates on the b pillar and the front grille. The bumper is from Scalar Fab, and the rock sliders are also from Scalar Fab. It has a winch up front and a Proline license plate on the skid. The Proline scalar shocks are the 90 millimeter versions.
The Roof
The roof of this truck is a 3D printed roof rack with some wood slats. It also has a King Kong RC wooden bed, which is filled with all sorts of goodies for an adventure. There are motorcycles in the back, a cooler, fire extinguishers, and utility boxes with tools inside.
The Finishing Touches
The finishing touches on this truck are what really make it stand out. The pinstriping is done with a bright blue metallic, and there are rock lights underneath the truck. The Axial Racing kit is in the front, and the bead locks are glued on. All in all, this truck is ready for any adventure.
A Look at Two Incredible RC Car Builds
Kevin’s Build
Kevin’s RC car build is a sight to behold. It features brass weights on the portals, high clearance link steel center universal drive shafts, skid plates, SSD covers on the axles, an aluminum shock tower, drop hitch and shackles, and a mesh grid in the rear window. The interior is also incredibly detailed, with texture on the seats, a chrome center on the steering wheel, and a coke can on the dashboard. The steering links have been swapped out for a spectrum servo and a spectrum brushless system to power the rig.
Luke Sutton’s Strike Force Build
Luke Sutton’s Strike Force build was created to inspire newcomers to the hobby. It features a high clearance link steel center universal drive shafts, skid plates, SSD covers on the axles, an aluminum shock tower, drop hitch and shackles, and a mesh grid in the rear window. The interior is also incredibly detailed, with texture on the seats, a chrome center on the steering wheel, and a coke can on the dashboard. A Wild Looking Scheme: The Silhouette, Cameo Fork, Decal Cutter and More
Creating the Patterns
The Silhouette, Cameo Fork, decal cutter and other tools were used to create the patterns seen on the body of this wild looking scheme. It took multiple days to spray the outside with a flat finish, giving it a slightly textured look. The windows were scuffed to give it a frosted effect. Accessories were added, such as wipers and a whip antenna.
Base Cam and Proline Carbine Wheels
The Base Cam was used, along with Proline Carbine Wheels and Proline Grunt tires. The Proline Grunt tires are a great choice and more people should use them. LED lights were glued to the inside, and both the headlights and taillights will light up when the vehicle is turned on.
Full Interior
The hood was pulled off to reveal a full interior. Jerry cans were painted black and added to the rear section. The interior is hidden by the frosted windows, but it is definitely there.
Buck Valves’ World War II Inspired Build
The Setup
Buck Valves recently found an offset brand and decided to paint it up. He added an AC couple with storage boxes, a winch line in the side box, a fire extinguisher, an Outback first-aid kit, and a Proline 90 millimeter Big Bore shock Spectrum two-in-one system to power it and a spectrum servo for the steering.
The Build
Buck is no stranger to the builders challenge, having entered some creative builds before. This one is no exception, with a lot of detail put into it. The axles were swapped out to Capra axles and the body has dense and rust marks. The Pro Line Cliffhanger body was used and a rear cage was modified to fit. Everything was kept as low as possible for both show and performance.
3D Printed Parts
The build also includes a number of 3D printed parts. These include a turbo on the hood and a Headhunter Studio driver head that was completely painted up and detailed.
Gruesome Dude with an Awesome Dashboard
This dude looks like he means business, but check out the dashboard on this thing! It has a chain steering wheel, gauges, shifters, and even a nitrous bottle in the passenger seat. The fuel cell on the side has fuel tubing on the inside to go out to the rear bomb that was converted into a gas tank.
Accessories Galore
The accessories on this rig are impressive. Some of them are discontinued items from Proline, but it’s really cool that he went and dug through his stuff and found them. He’s got the jack, fire extinguisher, Proline bag, Roto packs, and even sand ramps.
Weathered to Perfection
The weathering on this rig is amazing. It doesn’t stop at the top of the rig, it’s also underneath as well. It looks like an East Coast rig with all the salt that eats away at cars. The owner has put tons of hours into layering up the bottom of this with paint and grime and using a heat gun to get everything formed and dried.
Rock Shooter Wheels and BF Goodrich Mud Terrain Tires
The Rock Shooter wheels and BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires are weathered as well. Behind the tire you can see that the owner has gone and got them dirty too.
This rig is a great example of what can be done with a lot of hard work and dedication. The attention to detail is impressive and the end result is a rig that looks like it means business.
So you can actually move the steering wheel and the Bob Ross figure.
Isaac Nunez’s Dream Jeep
The Build
Isaac Nunez has put together a dream Jeep build that is sure to turn heads. He has equipped it with a Pro Scaler shock, height clearance link set, and brass weights on the knuckles. To top it off, he has two light bars set up on it, and a custom-made grille insert. Under the hood, he has a Spectrum Servo and brushless speed controller setup, and he runs this on a 3S smart battery.
The Paint Scheme
Isaac has opted for a simple but classic black paint scheme. He has used the Pro Line Wrangler body, and Pro Line interior set to give it an extra something. He has also added a Bob Ross figure to the interior, and mounted a Servo underneath so that the steering wheel and Bob Ross figure can be moved.
The Story
This Jeep build has a special story behind it. Isaac had to sell his original Jeep after an accident, and his autistic son kept reminding him of it. When he was given the chance to build up a new Jeep, he decided to build his dream Jeep. His wife was kind enough to buy him a real one as well. His real truck was modeled after this build, so it has a special place in his heart.

Bob Ross has made some simple upgrades to his RC car, including Mickey Thompson Baja Pro X tires and Holcomb wheels from Proline. He’s also added Big Bore shocks from Proline to dampen the suspension, and a spectrum Servo for the steering and a spectrum brushless system to power the rig. Additionally, a full usable spare tire is mounted to an axial rear bumper.
