Building the World’s Fastest RC Car

In our previous video, we attempted to break the world speed record with our RC car but fell short of our goal. The original plan was to surpass 200 miles per hour, but we only managed to reach 156. However, we are determined to make some adjustments and try again. Let’s take a closer look at this unique build and see what it’s capable of.

Most speed cars in the RC world have either one or two motors, which are connected to a center transmission and drive shafts that distribute power to the front and rear differentials. However, our car is different. It features twin motor direct drive, where the motors directly drive the differential. This design makes it quite distinct from its counterparts, and no one really knows what this car is truly capable of.

Identifying the Issue

After our previous failed attempt, we analyzed the problem and discovered that it was with the speed controller. There should have been two of these controllers in the car, along with twin motors and twin ESCs (Electronic Speed Controllers). The car was equipped with 12s lipo batteries, which can be upgraded to 24s or even 30s for more power if needed. However, for some reason, the ESC was set up incorrectly, causing the car to slow down prematurely during our last run.

Now that we have identified the issue, we are ready to make the necessary adjustments and give it another try. We will ensure that the speed controller is properly configured with the correct settings, so the car can unleash its full potential. This time, we are hopeful that we will be able to achieve our desired speed and break the world record.

When our car’s power unexpectedly went down to nothing, we had to accept that it was time to move on and focus on another vehicle. Unfortunately, the replacement car also didn’t have the speed we were looking for. Despite reaching around 170 miles per hour, we were still dissatisfied. Determined to find a solution, we decided to transfer the ESC (electronic speed controller) from the first car to the second. This is when we discovered the underlying problem. Despite having an AGF super high-speed servo installed in the car, we observed a lack of torque when there was significant downforce on the front. This led to vague steering, which impacted overall control. To rectify this issue, we decided to replace the existing servo with a high-performance Perfect Past Monster servo. With its impressive 50+ kilos of torque, this upgrade promised to greatly enhance steering precision and responsiveness.
